My tip would be to right click on the minimap and then 'track nearby quests'. Out of all the quests you have, the game will choose the nearest ones to you to track. Speeds up the questing quite a bit compared to doing that manually.

Regarding #10 Virtue - the xp is for Virtues which are a separate system of passive stat boosts. Virtue xp does not contribute to character lvl. The main source is from completing Deeds. It is important to keep appropriate Virtues slotted for use and growing to keep up with increasing challenges. More importantly, it encourages you to do Deeds like explore iconic locations or kill creatures to earn titles. My Beorning is currently called "Fangrel Maw, Troll-Beater" and it makes me smile

This is also VERY IMPORTANT: If you have no virtue selected then drinking the virtue XP will go to the FIRST virtue in the list. This virtue may be or NOT be appropriate to your class. BEFORE drinking any virtue potion go into your virtue panel (you can find it in the character screen or the skill screen) and activate a virtue that gives passive buffs appropriate to your class! See #9 for class stats. LOYALTY is a good starter virtue for any class as it gives you life and defense.

Do NOT sell everything. Many items you pick up can be used for crafting, and items collected from kills (usually brown background icons) can be used as task items. Tasks can be handed in at a task board (shown as a golden feather on the map) and add to your faction reputation and level xp. Every TEN tasks completed you'll receive a crafting item that enables you to achieve 100% critical success when crafting something which often affords you better stats or more items crafted. Great Video. I learned something new and I've been playing for 12 years 😊

Tasks are honestly one of the nicest additions to the game overall. It adds quite a bit of flavor to the world, and it gives you an easy way to get reputation aside from just questing. Which is very nice, because it means you don't HAVE to do ALL the quests with EVERY character. Also you can role-play as a bounty-hunter ^^

This was so well done! I remember running my feet off when I started F2P. Swift travel is so nice. I would add that gathering dye materials from the landscape are important to scholar crafters to make dyes. This can be lucrative - especially around July 4th & Christmas. So if a player sees a Woad Plant, gather it even if not scholar profession. Can sell it for in game $. Then cosmetic fanatics (like me!) are very willing to purchase those materials &/or crafted dyes.

#12 - save up your LP to buy either apprentice or journeyman riding from the store. Every toon will have the ability to ride a horse as soon as they get past the intro (and buy a horse... Unless you have an account wide mount already). Also, the store had weekly sales which switch on Thursday (you can see both that day, which is useful if you are debating getting something but want to see if the next week has better sales). The riding skills have gone on sale twice in the year I've been playing. Other store sales I watch for: - carry all's (crafting, dyes, housing items, essences) - vault/shared/wardrobe space - account wide mounts (although sometimes also festival rewards) - writs to buy premium houses - crafting stations for your house

Virtue is not free XP, its a special type of XP for your characters virtues (second tab of the traits screen). It's a very important part of the character development that you should be aware of.

Great video, fantastic editing. Note that swift travel is unlocked forever for a character that is logged in - even for a second - while the account is VIP. That character will be able to use any swift travels after that, even to destinations the character learns later when the account is no longer VIP.

The only other thing I would add off the top of my head after playing since 2013 is to purchase milestone slots and fast travels (at least to Rivendell). Also, LOTRO points are pretty easy to earn via deeds, so it won't take long to save up to buy them from just playing at a normal pace.

Another tip: DO DEEDS! They’re basically like long-term quests for everything from killing a certain amount of enemies in a region, to doing quests in a region, to using skills for your character class. Shift-L shows the deed log and it’s organized into all the different categories. Main perk of doing deeds: you can essentially make everything in the game free-to-play by earning LOTRO points. Deeds stack really quickly (for example, Deeds of the Shire combines doing all the slayer, quest, and exploration deeds) and get you massive amounts of points that you can use to buy everything you’d otherwise pay real money for (even fast travel with the Writ of Special Passage, though it’s easier to just buy at least a month of VIP for unlimited fast travel on all characters you run with VIP). Or if you do just go VIP, you can use the points for cool cosmetics or useful items, or to buy entire expansions and save a bit of money down the road.

If your a VIP, be sure to head to one of the main towns (Bree. Michel Delving, …) and talk to Wenda Cranesbill for your VIP Rewards. It’s accelerates your crafting time and prevents item wear from combat, crafting,etc…. It’s a great perk! She is also in most (if not all) housing areas if you have a house.

Housing upkeep is charged by the week, not the day. You can advance-pay up to 26 weeks (half a year), provided you have enough coin. I believe the Swift Travel options available to free players are just the network between the racial starting towns. (But I could be wrong; I haven't been a free player in a very long time.) As for the staggered level jumps in the epic questline, I have heard it's meant to make sure you also do sidequests, to keep levels going smoothly. Lastly, a quick tip for free players wanting the Riding trait: While it costs 95 LP (LotRO Points) in the in-game Store, LP are awarded by most Deeds (mini-achievements) in the game; each starter zone has about 200-300 LP worth of Deeds, which is more than enough for the Riding trait.

I met this game in 2012, It was Isengard time and i came back in 2021, so much haw changed. And even knowing a Lot about high levels (wich i didnt reach at the time) im a begginer to medium player. There is always something to be learned as the lvls progress, people tend to think that they ve seen ALL when they on lvl 50 with most of their skills but Thats Just the begining. Learn How to combat for hours IS hard and there is só much about rotations, trait linea and gear that many who never played a classic RPG game like this one is Will feel cowered. I believe that games today ARE, in general, easier and more beautifull. Lotro is as old as D&D, WOW and so many classic MMOS that Young people may bê confused with It.

Join a Kinship. You might have to try a couple to find the right one for you. Running “instances, dungeons”, duo questing to grind xp, grinding deeds, crafting, all that and much more can be easier and much more fun with a Kinship.

Regarding VIP and swift travel, subscribing to the VIP service will enable all the benefits that you get from that (swift travel, additional inventory slots, etc.) on any and all characters you play as during that subscription period, furthermore those characters will keep the VIP benefits PERMANENTLY, even after the subscription ends. One thing I recommend to people that really enjoy the game is to get a single month of VIP and make sure to play on any characters that you have so they can get all the benefits for the lifetime of that character.

In case you didn't realize Led Zeppelin references Lord of the Rings many times Directly and indirectly in songs. Some of the songs are: The Battle of Evermore (The Untitled Album): This talks about the distant land, the constant battle between the ringwraiths, sauron, and good. word "ringwraiths" is specifically mentioned. Ramblin' On (Led Zeppelin II): This song talks about Frodo's journey from Rivendell to Mount Doom, being led by Gollum. Words "Gollum" and "Mordor" are specifically mentioned. Misty Mountain Hop (The Untitled Album): Direct Reference in song title The Misty Mountains of Middle-Earth Over the Hills and Far Away (Houses of the Holy): Indirect Reference Hobbiton Carouselambra (In Through the Out Door): It is not as direct in this one, but "the eye from the deep searching for the weak" is most likely the eye of sauron, and it talks about an old age war. You should mention that chests can be used between all your characters on that server. For example, I have a character who has the cooking skill. Cooks need vegetables and the such. A cook cannot farm. So I have another character that farms. Instead of overloading my 1st character, me second one uses the chest to store vegetables for the 1st when ever he needs it.

Iv been playing this game for nearly 15 years. So if there is ANY questions anyone has. Plz ask. I personally would not recommend going Virtue of Valor to get max lvl immediatly. SO BE CAREFUL. There is so much to learn when you are lower levels, that if you skip them, chances are you will miss out on SO much. From lvls 1-100 there is something to learn along the way.

@@sunnypotato On the other hand, now that you have a 120 level character, you can use her to EXPLORE Middle Earth (something valuable on its own) and scope out regions for your lower level character. Also, if you make her craft vocation an Explorer, she can gather materials in most of Middle Earth without having to fight off bad guys, and if she's after hides, she can one-shot just about anything anywhere.

I have been playing LOTRO since Nov 2007, and it is the only MMO that I still play. It is nice to see new people joining the game and seems like even though the game has its ups and downs with population, it does seem to have stayed pretty steady for the last 15 yrs. The game was a bit different early on, for starters, you had to wait until level 20 before you could get the riding skill and get a horse and have to do a small series of quests to get the riding skill. now the riding skill can be purchased I think at level 5 from the store.

I’d also add: START CRAFTING ASAP! When I started playing over 10 years ago it took me forever to realize I should have been crafting from the very beginning. Choose a vocation that suits your current character to start (e.g. hunters can benefit most from woodsman for bows or explorer for medium armor) and get to collecting materials right away! Down the line you can also use your different characters to compliment each other (almost every vocation’s third skill is made to compliment someone else) and have all your characters outfitted with the best gear at every stage of the game.

dunno, i took Explorer, and can make alt char for woodsman... :D but some players already sent me entire set of gear for level18 :D and 3 gold coins not sure how much that is worth, i already sinked all that gold for bank inventory slots are u completely nerfed with inventory space... i quiet like the game, but im not sure if im going to be commited long-term yet... so i dont wanna start paying, if i dont know if theres even anything to do in endgame ; ) inventory space is so scarce , im playing on Fearless, does it slow me down significantly?

@@Microphunktv-jb3kj yeah, some people are super nice and will just send stuff! vault space is honestly one of the more useful things you can buy with gold early game so you're fine. i recommend at least getting vip once since it increases your inventory space and gives you fast travel, even after the subscription expires. fearless and higher might be a bit much for a first-time player. the "eye of sauron" mechanic is a bit immersion-breaking and annoying for me because it's so random, so if normal is too easy I'd just recommend going with adventurous or daring (same deed for either of those)

If I recall correctly, as long as you sub for just 1mo your account will be upgraded to a “premium” account and you get to keep a lot of the VIP stuff like swift travel even after you stop subscribing, so I would almost recommend subbing for 1 month if you plan on playing then you can go back to f2p for most of your leveling and keep some of those conveniences

On the lvls of mobs. I wouldnt recomment fighting anything that is more than 3 lvls above you if you arent confident on beating them. Thats kinda the rule of thumb. No more than 3 lvls above you.

It looked like you were around lvl 35 when you used the Virtue of Valor. If you really wanted too. You could start a new character and power level back to lvl 35. I could tell you where to go and what to do to power level. And I would just use that lvl 130 for Currency. If you need money or what ever for the lower lvl charatures, you can go sell high value items for gold, and then give that gold to lower lvl charatures. I wish for the virtue of valor chest. There was a warning you had to read before opening it. Saying "Do not open unless you want to lvl up to 130."

So getting VIP status is really worth it. 3 months is only $30 which is a great comparison to other games. The other thing that's worth it is if you see one of the packs or bundles in the lotro store online if they have the riding skill or trait included if you buy that all of your characters will get the writing skill automatically for free course you pay a few dollars but it's usually less than 10 so not a bad deal.

When you know there are mounts in the game and you spend hours walking all over, the realization sets in quick that you're simply wasting your time.

The environments and game world are great. The classes are fun, if clunky by now. The servers/lag issues are bad. The combat and some mechanics need a big update. I would love a complete overhaul of all game systems/graphics/mechanics to keep this around for another 30 years. The story/lore really can't be beat here.

You can actually skip Angmar if you want. There are several regions in that same level range, and the Epic quest line in Angmar is endlessly long. I did the whole quest line for my first character, but never again, although most of my alts end up there for awhile for a specific purpose (different for each alt). In fact, you can basically skip any region, although some of them require some tricky maneuvering to get past. There are other ways of leveling up if yo really hate a region, but I suggest that on your first character you do the whole thing, just to get a sense of the huge expanse and variety in Middle Earth

I'm a paid subsciber since the early years of the game, but the swift travels don't unlock once you discover the connecting stable masters for FTP? That would be a game breaker not being able to use the swift travels. edit: OK, I looked it up. If not being a VIP for a month then unsubbing, you'd need to get a "writ of special passage" from the store to be able to use all the swift travels, and discover the stable masters of course.

Yes! And you can buy that with the points you get from deeds, so you don't HAVE to use real money if you'd rather stay away from VIP.

Absolutely! Shoes on hobbits feel weird, but I had to add them for my current outfit, too... It was such a toss up... Best of luck on Twitch! It takes a very long time and dedication to get famous. Being a genuine person who is consistent, fun, and interactive with their audience always go further than ones that don't. I know you can do it if you keep on going!

yeah well the more you know.bears can run in bear form at the same speed as horses so they are the only class who doesn't need them.

I think LOTRO has the same issue as any other progression mmorpg.. In which if you're jumping into a retail server right now, everything that isn't current content feels meaningless and the zones feel empty. Its one thing GW2 does right, to which its all current content. I'd for sure give this game a go on a progression server, but the current one seems to be a few expans in :(

It does feel empty, I agree. When I started in 2011 Bree was full all the time every day. Now no one goes to Bree unless there is a festival. Which is a shame. I have manay alts and a few of them are still in the first few area so it often feels like a solo game. Find out where everyone is hanging out, which town is the current favorite for using the crafting halls, auction house etc. Even if you are low level, you can go there and enjoy the feel of a full game :)

There is a quest that will send you up north of Bree where the stablemaster is. He has a quest for you to ride his horse around a course; if you manage it in the time, you can choose abasic horse out of his stable. He gives you the riding skill as well.

The game is very noob friendly and you feel very comfy when you start, because you're in happy places like the Shire, or Bree, or among elves. As you level up the danger and largeness of the place grows slowly - it's impossible to encounter any of that until you're well into the game. Meanwhile you can start looking for a friendly kinship, one that does a lot of in-game chat and whose member love to help noobs (there are a lot of kinships like that, whatever server you choose). And keep watching SunnyPotato - I'm sure you'll get a sense of the FUN of the game!

You can buy additional bag space at the LOTRO store using Points or by purchasing with real currency! :) I used my points to buy more space. Definitely helpful!
