No- the video misses out Charles apart from one brief mention of him at 2:25 and even briefer one at the very end, and that's just an add-on rather than a proper look at the notion of abdication. While Prince Charles COULD abdicate to make way for William, it is very unlikely that he will do so. Abdication is considered to be a selfish choice and is widely regarded as the harshest act of disloyalty to the Crown, as it basically means denouncing the responsibility placed on them by God and forces the next in the line of succession to ascend to the throne as Sovereign before they are ready. Charles would never disrespect his mother or the Monarchy as a whole by choosing to abdicate and he would never place that burden on his son's shoulders until he had no other choice. No royal wants to be the Sovereign. There is nothing good about being the ruler of a nation, it is a soul-sucking position that forces you to abandon emotion and replace it with mindless complacency, taking away your right to an opinion and the free time you may wish to spend with your family. While there are many things that people can hold against Prince Charles, nobody can deny that he is a loving father and he would never burden his son with the weight of that responsibility, not until he is carried away in a wooden box himself.

The current William would actually be “King William the V”, NOT “The IV”. We’ve already had a William “the IV” - he ruled in the early-mid 1800’s, directly before Queen Victoria (who was his niece). Klaus Köhl nope. it goes to the eldest son, then since he’s king it goes to *his* eldest son, and so on. so after William and all of his kids have ruled (just pretending here that by this point those kids don’t have kids), then it would go to Harry, then his kids. again, if for some reason the royal line stopped there, then the next in line would be Queen Elizabeth’s next son, prince Andrew, and his descendants.

The notion of succession is the life blood of the British monarchy. HRH the Prince of Wales and Camila have an interesting history yes but they will legally have to ascend the throne upon the queen’s death. The poor man has waited for decades to take his place and can’t be shoved out of view. Additionally, HRH Prince William could easily change his regal name to something else. His mother naming him William does not set that name as his regal title.

Unless if prince charles abidcates or had died by that time William will be second in line for the throne. Last time someone abidcated was because they loved a previously married American actress. (which is obviously not frowned upon today, considering the recent royal wedding) the queen in particular is very serious about her duties as monarch and I'm sure that she has pressed that onto her son as he was growing up. because of charles' age now, I don't doubt that his reign will be much shorter compared to his mother's

Why would Prince Charles abdicate he has given his life to one day becoming King it's not a popularity competition. All the Monarchs of England that have abdicated have done it at the point of a sword including Edward VIII and like Charles II, parliament was holding the sword. If William becomes king and doesn't change his name he will be King William V. King William IV was between George III and Queen Victoria.

She will not be titled 'Queen Consort Catherine', she will be referred to (correctly) as The Queen, as every consort and regnant queen has for a thousand years. If she is predeceased by her husband, she will then and only then will she be styled Queen Catherine (IKYMI Elizabeth II is never correctly referred to as Queen Elizabeth either.

The only reason the Queen Mother was titled as such was that if they called her 'Queen Elizabeth', there would be a confusion with her daughter who has the same name. Remember, the current Queen's grandmother was neither 'Queen Mother" or "Queen Dowager" when her so was King. She was simply styled "Queen Mary". As for the wife of William, despite that the accurate title would be Queen Consort, she will be styled simply HM The Queen, exactly as the current Queen is styled.

Her correct name is Catherine, Duchess of Caimbridge. 2) I'm sure Prince Charles appreciates you skipping completely over him...he's only been the heir apparent for around 7 DECADES. 3) The changes to the anthem will be made after Charles takes the throne, and won't change until Charlotte or a daughter of George ascends. 4) Charles becomes King the moment Elizabeth passes....there is no confirmation required. @@reexeyboi 1) Prince William's full name is: William Arthur Philip Louis. 2) On accession to the throne, the new monarch gets to pick which name they will be known by. 3) The name doesn't even have to be one they already have. 4) Standard protocol is to pick a name that appears in the British Royal line. This is not a rule (the Crown is considered above all law and rule except divine) so Prince William could therefore choose to be known as King Arthur. He could even pick a name that doesn't appear in the British Monarch history, such as King David. The choice is his. In short, he can change his name. Just like you can with deed poll. Except he does so easier.
