I actually had this in the video, but removed it. In hindsight, I should have left it. I removed it because I said “15 things” at the beginning of the video. But I miscounted, so I chose to delete one instead of just have the count be off. 😅 I have tiny bit of OCD showing there. Why delete that one? Because I saw it as a free experience, rather something you “received” for free. There as no “item” involved unless you count glitter.

I'm happy to say, as far as the celebratory dessert (Tip #3) goes, they actually still do it. My gal and I went 4 weeks ago to Goofy's Kitchen. At check in, we were asked if we were celebrating anything special and when she mentioned our anniversary, they gave us two cupcakes for free.

Oh awesome! I think it may be by location then. I believe we asked at Cafe Orleans for Amy’s birthday and they said they were no longer doing birthday treats. Glad to hear some of the magic is still there!

@@SoCalDisneyDad Don't quote me on this, but it might be just character dining places that are still doing it? We're doing the Princess Breakfast Adventure on Monday. We had to cancel Fire and Ice (one of your other great reviews) due to a work emergency and me needing to stay over the weekend at the office. I hear they have gifts for the birthday girl or boy. A necklace for girls, sword and shield for boys, but that might just be for kids only. I'll let ya know when we find out.

Yeah same! I went to lamplight lounge on 4/13 and when checking in, it asks if you’re celebrating something and in () it states they don’t do complimentary treats

@@SoCalDisneyDad OK, here goes. We found that you do get 5 hours free parking in the hotels if you also dine in the restaurant there. Kinda not really "free" considering the price of the meal, but April received a cute little necklace for birthday as well as 4 total button and 2 collectable pins (note the difference here, buttons are the safety pins). Coldest water is at the pizza place by Jumpin Jellyfish at DCA. Not sure of coldest at DLR. Pixie dust at Boutique was quite heavy because of her long hair, but they went all out. She ended up with like 8 buttons and 4 pins by the end of the of the day. PhotoPass is also included with the Princess Breakfast, but only for the two or three girls who are swapped in and out of that designated spot. Oh, and free treats we were told are common place at buffet style eateries but are not guaranteed

We had our Anniversary dinner at Ohana they gave us window seats great for the fireworks show and a free dessert to share. This was in 2018 so I'm not sure if they do that still.

I’ve eaten at Ohana a handful of times but never at fireworks (we eat too early) and unfortunately never by a window. I would LOVE to have a decent view there instead of deep inside the restaurant. 😂

I was at Disney on April 6th for my birthday and I got a free dessert at Red Rose Taverne. I didn’t have to ask the cast member just told me happy birthday and handed it to me. Not sure if I was just lucky or if they do that for everyone.

Free desserts at quick service is definitely not the norm. Usually that sort of thing is reserved for Table service since it has a higher bill. That being said, it’s not completely unheard of. My youngest was given a Jack Jack cookie randomly once. Not even special occasion. The manager just walked up to us while we were waiting for Amy and my oldest to get off Incredicoaster. And on another occasion, my oldest was given a small Mickey shaped Sourdough bread from the Bakery Tour for his birthday (that’s why it’s so important to wear the pins!)

We brain stormed what we thought you were going to include before we started the video and you left a few off: If you include swapping things - then how about pin trading? That was the best way for our kids to go home with a ‘purchase’ each day without us spending anything! Both Esmeralda and Pirate Red will give you a free fortune if you connect to the app when you are near them. At Indiana Jones we got free translater cards. Jungle cruise used to give out free maps if you asked. At galaxy’s edge you can do the creature trail which gives you a neat book plus a reward for finishing it. At ogas cantina and at lamplight you can get coasters to take home. If you pop a balloon you can get a free replacement. Character autographs are free. For one segment of the population it’s good to know that sanitary items are free inside the ladies bathrooms. Thanks for giving us a fun game tonight 😄

I'm glad you mentioned that portion of the population. We almost had to cut a trip short because my gal started a few days earlier than expected. She was very happy and relieved to find them. As she would say, perhaps not "great quality", but they are there and better than nothing at all.

Hello from Utah! We are getting ready for our Disneyland trip in May and have watched all of your videos! I was wondering if you could answer a question for me that I haven’t been able to find an answer to? Backpacks on rides, how does that work? Can we bring them onto rides or will someone need to sit out and hold all the backpacks? We appreciate any info you can give us about this!

You can take backpacks with you on all rides. There are no rides that don’t allow them. Even Incredicoaster allows backpacks on rides as the G-forces keeps the backpack firmly on the floor. It’s usually a good idea to loop a leg through the backpack strap, just in case, if the ride is more extreme, such as a roller coaster.

Kinda bummed that Disneyland doesn't have the refillable mugs like Disney World. This was one of my favorite things about Disney World. Of course everything else at Disney World was a favorite too. Heading to Disneyland in November so I've been watching your videos a lot and appreciate the tips

I think it’s because the hotels don’t have cafeteria style restaurants (the GCH does, but I don’t think the other two do). They could, of course, just install freestyle machines. But I’m sure they’ve considered it and have their reasons for not doing it. I totally get you though! We are at Aulani right now and they have refillable mugs and we’ve used it a ton.

So if someone needs to use a scooter to get around the park because of Cancer’s damage to the bones, should they apply for the DAS pass? I inquired about it & another guest close to us made it seem like it was for more severe issues, like people who basically couldn’t walk. So we didn’t look further into it, but we did go to the end of lines or to cast mates at every ride and ask about Return Times. We didn’t wait more than 20 minutes in any line generally, except for Haunted Mansion. That return time was at least 40-60 minutes off.

They have a pre-qualification thing you can do before you arrive that would get you a direct answer from Disney on whether that particular disability qualifies. I would assume it’a for anyone who can’t physically wait in lines for any reason. But I have also heard about people getting it who don’t really need it. So I imagine Disney is fairly lenient. Years ago, it used to be that all you needed was a wheelchair. People would actually rent wheelchairs for the day or sometimes hire a person in a wheelchair to accompany them.

I think the fuel rod stations should accept cash or at least add a tap to pay feature. My card was unable to be read through the card sliders. you can’t do much planning once your phone dies since you need it to book rides, so we had to leave the park to charge our phones In the car lol. Rookie mistake I know, but it could of been much easier had those machines accepted Apple Pay or cash.

There’s not a ton, but they have a few scattered around the parks. In addition to the spouts at the restaurants I mentioned, there is an actual water bottle filling thing with a drinking fountain as well near the marketplace in Galaxy’s Edge.

The one near Galaxy's Edge is fun. A good photo op if you can get the creature that lives inside to pop up. There is also cold water at Pym's, Pizza Planet and, although the name slips my mind, the Mexican food restaurant near the castle area.

Not really? I only included one “used to get” in the main 15 items on the list. And that’s because some folks are reporting still getting those magical touches and they could come back at any time. The other “used to gets” i mentioned were all in conjunction with something else. For instance, you can get free bread (still can) and yes, you used to be able to get free chocolate too. But that’s wasn’t actually one of the 15 items. Just the bread was. So there’s still 15 actionable free things on the list. Or 14 if you’re not counting the birthday desserts at restaurants.

As a Disneyland Resort pro, I only didn’t know that you can also get free soft drink refills at Pym’s Kitchen. Did you know you can also get free parking at the Disneyland hotel if you dine at one of the hotels restaurants?
