My number one must-pack: Hydrocolloid bandages! They are essential for both preventing and treating blisters. If you're starting to get one, these things take away the pain ENTIRELY and allow you to keep walking. But I tend to slap them on pre-emptively in the places I know I'm prone to getting blisters even with good, worn-in shoes, guaranteeing a pain-free 25000 steps a day! 😅
@meganalldayАй бұрын
I can highly recommend leukotape as well. I do long distance hiking in humid heat waves and it’s a life saver. It stays on through sweat, dirt, swimming, heat, etc etc etc. it prevents blisters and protects them. Works for wounds. And is also used as a sports tape. It’s pricy but a roll lasts forever. I should get paid for this plug lol can’t say enough good things about it.

I appreciate the fact you mentioned blankets... I always bring a blanket with me because (A) there is a certain level of comfort that comes from something familiar/from home and being autistic, there are also certain fabrics that bring us comfort while others may bring us anxiety or discomfort. Having that "security blanket" is definitely a must bring! And (B) depending on where you stay, some blankets may be too light or too heavy... so having your own "just right" blanket is essential for sleeping. And yes, a white noise machine or an ambient noise/music app is also very helpful.

Any advice for a child who has autism going on a plane? Or any advice to help him not have a meltdown on the plane? (If possible)
@bigbrotherbuddha2 ай бұрын
@@TheFreepeople21 - It's different for each individual on the spectrum... for me, even as an adult, having a plushy toy or a blanket helps because of the familiar feels. Also, noise canceling headphones because it can be loud on an airplane help as well. (And gum to prevent one's ears from popping!) It's difficult to say what works and what doesn't work, especially for a first time flyer, best of luck to you and your family.

Another great option to store things at Disney is the Owners locker. You store all of your toiletries and items like that in it and they will store for you and deliver and pick up from your resort during your vacation. I used packing cubes, which then came out of the suitcase and organized on the bench in our room. The suitcase then became my laundry hamper. Then when it was time to pack up, all I had to do was zip up the cubes and throw them back in the suitcase on top of the laundry. Made life so much easier at 3 a.m. when we had to leave to catch our flight.

Great tip! On our last trip, during the morning of our day in Hollywood Studios, my daughter lost her glasses on the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. She has a very hard time seeing without glasses. Ended up taking a Lyft to Eyeglass World and they made her two new pairs in about 30 minutes (they rushed it) after we got a hold of our optometrist for the prescription. Still took about 4-5 hours out of the day to take care of it it (went somewhere else first that normally does make glasses same day, but that particular location did not). We now make sure to bring an extra pair with us for all of us that do need glasses. The glasses lost on the ride weren't recovered, but my other daughter whom lost her Magicband at the same time/ride was recovered and Disney mailed it to us later on.

As far as sleep aids go, I usually use a 12 hour ambient nois KZbin video that plays the bridge sounds from Star Trek The Next Generation. It puts me to sleep within 15 minutes and I end up dreaming I’m on the Enterprise. Also, Amazon has some great power banks that fit easily in my cargo shorts. I recommend getting one that has a 50,000 miliamp charge. I used one in the parks when I would livestream. Make sure you plug that in overnight so you get a full charge in the parks.

Okay, for older people - do bring face masks, like in pandemic days. I’ve had two friends about 60 years old get it recently. One (he has COPD) ended up in the hospital for 30 days and almost died. He still has problems breathing. The other did okay but he passed it on to his cat who has respiratory issues and the cat died. Also - wear Hoka Bondi 8 shoes. And of course a second pair, maybe Brooks, when you need to switch your shoes out. AJ is absolutely right about extra socks and underwear. Also, if you like, little gifts for cast members or other guests that you meet in a line or wherever. I make rose sachets from roses in my garden, and after I distribute them i have more room in my suitcase for souvenirs! Also, bubble wrap and tape in case you buy something breakable. One last thing - yes, you can get cheaper ponchos and jackets and sweatshirts off property, but the Disney stuff is very high quality. I am still using a sweatshirt and sweatpants i bought in Epcot in 2017 when it was a lot colder than i expected, and a fleecy jacket i got in HS early this year when the temperature got frigid during the wait before Fantasmic. These were beautiful and the crowd bought the store out - and later in my trip i saw people wearing those jackets and knew they’d been in HS for Fantasmic the same night i was!

The designated poncho carrier of the day. After the rain passes, they all get shoved back in the same bag. AJ speaking of charging phones keep a few tooth picks on you. If the charging port on your phone seems not to work when you plug a cord in most likely there is lint or dirt in the port use a tooth pick to clean out the port .
