A Diploma is received for a very specific prescribed area of study for a profession, which someone can receive before or after attaining a degree. I received a degree in a university for applied sciences , which required multiple courses in anatomy physiology, microbiology, multiple chemistry courses with labs in all of them ,nutrition, trigonometry, multiple statistics courses, psychology courses, developmental psychology, sociology, English composition, English literature, thesis writing courses, Spanish for health careers, and a few electives. I had to attend a nursing school, in addition, for taking all of my nursing courses in every area of nursing and pharmacology with clinical experience in every area of nursing, along with learning necessary assessment skills, clinical skills,in every specialty area, as well as administering medications, and charting on patients. I had 3,000 hours of clinical experience in 3.5 years of nursing school for a Diploma in Nursing, in additional to my university degree. Both were required back 42 years ago when I graduated with a Diploma in Nursing, and Degree in Applied Sciences, which was necessary for my Nursing Education, and for taking my two day licensing exam for Registered Professional Nurse. I just retired from emergency nursing/ urgent care nursing, and being on call as a sexual assault forensic examiner in July 2020.. I have already been called up to work per diem in all of these areas after 30 days of retirement. My medical and nursing colleagues have all been doing the same thing. We didn't want to quit our profession; we just didn't want to continue to full time and overtime, anymore. Many of us hadn't had a vacation in three years, due to staffing shortages. We were paid for our vacation hours, every year, and also upon retirement. I've taught courses to physicians in India, who have graduated medical school in India with a degree in general medicine. They must attend a Diploma Program for Emergency Medicine Program from a U.S. Medical School Program , given in their own country. Meghan’s marriage to Harry has brought more attention to the royal family for many of us here. I followed big royal news stories such as William and Kate’s engagement, marriage, and births. I'm not from Britain, but I always assumed that the royal family would have a security detail with them everywhere they went. Why would Kate do her own grocery shopping? Wouldn't it simply be easier, and safer, to have someone in the employ of the royal family do that? Less risk to the royals, and less of a crowding fiasco at the stores themselves.
