An art/writing prompt I love is "make an emotion into a character". I got it from a therapist I had a while back. It was technically just for writing, but I like including visuals of my characters in my character sheets because I can't visualize things for my life. So I think it can work for both!

Hi Megan, First, thank you for another inspirational and encouraging video. I also have a problem with finishing projects I start 😁 and whenever I have expensive supplies like a sketchbook or gorgeous stickers, it's difficult to use them, because I'm afraid I'll mess it up or waste perfectly good supplies. I have an art journal prompt that maybe some of you haven't tried... I actually did that in my art journal. ♡ Write a letter to your furry friend (cat, dog or any other friend 💕 ) I wrote a thank you letter to my dog, Belle (that's her name). For me, she is my best friend and my child. FYI, I started my first sketchbook two years ago and I have 5 pages to finish it. Hopefully, I'll finish it by New Year's eve or else it will be a New Year's resolution 😄

I definitely get that - I still have a box stickers from elementary school that I barely used, it’s terrible 😂 Belle is such a pretty name for a dog, love that prompt idea! I don’t think I’ll finish mine by new years, I’m going to be swamped with work and holiday stuff the next few weeks. Definitely in 2023 though! 💜

let me just say that I was actually going to comment on it with the last video I just watched of yours but didn't want to be weird commenting on something like entirely unrelated to the video 😹 your voiceovers are great! they have gotten SO much more natural and even when they were a little more stiff, they were better than a lot of channels I've watched lol your videos have always been amazing for the times I just need to do *something* and have zero focus to do anything but something irrelevant. that usually results in arts & crafts and I am super particular about sounds and voices especially when I get in that zone. so, thank you u for your voiceovers + ideas they have gotten me through a good amount of stressful days lmao

I'm stunned like I'm a old follower , and I've watched ur vedios like from so long, u have definitely improved so much like the girls u did before were amazing but their blush used to show up like a line in the face but I'm soooo glad to see u become better and better everyday like today my favourite part of the drawing was the face, the way the skin shade and blush went together was gorgeous. Nice tips. I don’t have any one style and am not sure that I ever could have just one as my styles depend on what I was creating as well as the style I feel like drawing/painting in. With alcohol markers, I sometimes have a hard time not going over the line. I use reference photos sometimes and don’t other times. I think I might have aphantasia though as when I close my eyes I have a hard time picturing something in my head. Like, I could close my eyes and describe an apple or a beach, however, that doesn’t mean I can actually physically see it in my mind. I mostly see dark with some random dabs and dashes here and there. Also, I’m an MW too 😉.

I’m definitely a “visual learner” and can usually picture things somewhat. Nice! Hi Megan, you have some wonderful tips. MD Campbell on KZbin, while he does not post often, he did once post about using references as a way to improve your drawing skills. A lot of artists on KZbin promote using references. Some have gone to art schools, and some have not.

In all honesty you don't need to go to an art school to be good at art 😃 Just be confident in yourself and don't listen to what other people say (other than those compliments 😜). But at the same time people telling you how to improve your art isn't really counted as hate, listen to them too, cos that way you can also improve on listening to those critics and be able to get better at taking things not super serious, you could also take a couple of your favorite artist styles you like and try combine them! That's how I found my art style! Anyways this was a good video! 🤩 edit: Also Meghan, don't listen to those people who think your voice sounded like a robot, that thought never popped up in my head from the past years I've watched you!

I have a question. Mostly of pictures on Pinterest have copyright I belive it... And free image stores have more complicated images... Where can we find references without legal problems?

As long as you don't sell the drawing or post it online without crediting the source you should be fine with Pinterest. I usually use it for practice

There are stock image sites you can use if you’re planning to sell your work - and honestly if you combine a bunch of different references like I did here it may be transformative enough to be considered “fair use”. I’m not as familiar with art copyright laws though so I’d recommend doing your own research. Or you could take your own reference pictures! But if you’re not selling your work I wouldn’t worry about it tbh.
