In the end the companies and developers are ripping us off and have gotten super greedy. Having to pay for another ending to a game is ridiculous when it should be in the game in the 1st place. Super shady. Another game that did this is Kings Quest. If you bought chapter by chapter you can't get the epilogue. You have to purchase the complete game to get it. So I spent money each time a chapter came out only to be slapped in the face. It's uncompleted because I chose to buy chapters at a time. If the company would have informed us ahead of time. I would have waited for the bloody so called completed game. Rip off and greed as stated before. I refuse to buy extra content that was taken out of the game and being sold. I am not buying season passes anymore as well they are becoming a super big mess. Very good video.You are so true with everything you mentioned. As consumers we need to say no more. Thanks. Cheers

Demo's are what I loved about XBLA on 360, any game you fancied in the live arcade, you could demo before buying. I downloaded tons of demos, and then bought the ones I liked the best, because the sheer amount of demos encouraged me to try out more and more games, eventually leading to quite a few I really really wanted.

They're starting to come back on playstation. I've noticed more demos than there used to be. That and most people are calling demos betas nowadays for some reason... Like For Honor. The game comes out in two weeks. That was either a stress test or a demo but definitely not a fucking beta.
@Spicypuff8 жыл бұрын
freakyfro99 Finally someone noticed. The fact that they call everything a beta just really annoys me. Like destiny, people called it a beta. No its a demo, same thing for titanfall, call of duty, ect. Its only a beta if its a work in progress thing. And i have noticed some demos recently, i hope they bring back the extra you could get from demos and could use after you buy the full game. Those were neat.
@Paul3828 жыл бұрын
Spicy Puffin I agree. The only mainstream game that springs to mind that has the right to be called a beta test was when Gear of War 3 released their multiplayer beta which was I think 6 months before release (even then you could still call it a late alpha test).

These days, most "AAA" franchises have fallen into the hands of corporate. Corporate does not buy these franchises because they love gaming but because they smell money. The suits are incapable of understanding games or gamers. So the corporate solution to franchise slowly deteriorating ( and bringing in less money) is to either squeeze it, kick it, throw money at it or kill it and take a tax write off. We should remember the best products were created by other gamers who loved gaming and had an idea.

@bigego5038 жыл бұрын
you might also except Bioware and CDProjectRed but you are correct. Some companies understand gaming because they are comprised of gamers (at least at the level of decision making). So many "AAA" games seem to be designed by master craftsmen who have had video gaming very carefully explained to them but who have never actually played one.
@AzurFenix8 жыл бұрын
Bullshit on Bioware, they are SJW friendly and greedy as fuck and Lazy. They are owned by EA, the grandfather of fucking gamers over. Your high if you think Bioware is scum free. Maybe back when they made KotOR. But now? They are an SJW circle jerk with eyes only for the greens and little else.
@bigego5038 жыл бұрын
I never said they were scum free but the difference between EA and Bioware is that Bioware does still have some gamers on payroll who are capable of understanding what makes a good game (not all but some). EA is made up (as far as I can see) of 100 per cent accountants and beancounters who are constitutionally incapable of understanding what makes either a good game or a bad one. Other than by sales. A small difference I grant you but significant nonetheless
@jakobholgersson44007 жыл бұрын
I only partially agree with this. The truth of the matter is that in terms of creative content, publishers often give studios quite a lot of creative breathing room. The WWI setting of Battlediedl 1 was pitched to EA by the people at DICE, because that was what the employees wanted to work on. In terms of monetization, then it's what's necessary to survive in a very risky bisoness. During the last console generation, we saw many classic companies getting killed off by only a single failed project. AAA games have become ludicrously expensive to make, mostly due to the consumer demand of amazing graphics. We have literally a situation where one can say to those who mock the performance of consoles in general and Nintendo consoles in particular, that "you're the reason we can't have nice things". Because it's true. It's not "greed" to take measures for your company to survive, it's common business sense. It's respect for your employees.

This is what I love about Pvz: Garden Warfare 2 . All of it's dlc that comes out is always free. You have the option to pay for microtransactions but don't have to and the only thing you ever have to pay for is the game then you're done and every week they have show case characters if you haven't got them yet , plus the two new host and torchwood that you get from the dlc trials of gnomus which was free. Also community challenges , new card packs , mystery port events , boss modes , festive events every major holiday. It's awesome!

Devs quit doing this for a reason: it ISN'T good for sales. Sometimes, if a game is good, the demo entertains people for so long that they don't feel they need the full game. Just look at the Battlefield 2 demo, where servers were almost as crowded as the full version for years on end. Not to mention that people who want to "try" new games often choose to pirate instead because, you know, the demos make games appear "better than they actually are".

DLC is probably created in mind to be cut off from the whole game, they possibly review it at finished product and choose which parts they can make DLC without removing too much, in some ways it's great way to get more revenue so they can create more larger games in the future

You obviously don't understand corporate business and haven't learn about monopolies in High School. Gaming Industry NEEDS console exclusivity because it drives competition. Without competition, we would have a monopoly where one gaming platform would dominate and charge whatever price they want for their games. They would also half-ass their games considering there isn't anyone to compete with their products. As much as I hate not being able to play Halo on my PS4, I'm happy I still have alternatives to go with it. But re-evaluate your thoughts on console exclusivity and tell me what you think below 😊

1.The law not protecting gamers like any other consumers, there is still this stigma about games being childish and not to be taken seriously despite it having become a multi billion dollar industry and because of it the law isn't as strict about consumer protection as say is the case with movies and music, selling a CD with 15 promised tracks but with 5 of them removed or a movie with two endings one of which is the "true" ending needing additional money would never be accepted but because it's "just a game" people overlook this making gaming a unnecessarily expensive hobby.

Its a shame many gamers see dlc as something bad or evil as i remember when dlc would give you new costumes or small campaings and such. Now if you mention dlc an angry mob will appear but its understandable why that is. But what boggles my mind is that the moment dlc is introduced they now see the base game as imcomplete. Why? I don't know.
@chimichangle8 жыл бұрын
As stated, DLCs are sometimes amazing but most of the time just main content that was split off and resold, or just straight up not made well because most people buy season passes, and why work as hard on something when you already got paid for it? Good DLCs so far that I can point out are from Witcher 3 and Dark Souls 3, but the ones stated in the video I definitely agree were subpar and on the level of cheating the player/consumer (never forget Star Wars Battlefront). Who doesn't want more content for a game that we love? The mob happens because that extra content never deserved to be extra.
@zososldier8 жыл бұрын
If the game isn't complete or is broken, then there should NOT be "DLC". That is called a patch, not DLC. They were right for bashing Destiny or any other game like it for the shady crap they pulled. Plenty of people are completely fine with DLC/expansion when they are worth it. Look at WoW. Their expansions are 100% worth it because for an additional $20-60, the game becomes 100-2000+ hours longer. Also, if there are any gameplay or story line additions within a short period of time from launch of a game, it should not be charged for because it was developed with the original game and they chose to throw up a pay wall for it.

About the problematic console ports... Have anyone played Mass Effect 1 and just been in awe of the well thought out controls and UI - and then played the followups and realize that the developers no longer cared for good controls and just threw some dice to assign keys. This is why we don't get the good stuff (on PC) - no one complains when the companies take shortcuts... You really should spent a lot of time in ME1 with mouse and keyboard and then do the same in the followups before responding (though I know noone actually will). I'm not saying ME2 and ME3 are bad - only the way they did not give a single f*ck about well-designed controls on the PC.

all legit, except for the infestation: SS bit. The only reason the game was so poorly received was for the simple fact that 80% of the player base used "hacks" and the Devs refused to listen to the community or even fix key issues that had been a massive problem since the games inception. and even actively trolled/insulted/banned their player base for little to no reason. The newz (ISS under new devs) is in a similar boat. While they fixed most the issues with cheaters via anti cheat (and the fact the current dev leader was the main creator of all cheats for ISS) and most bugs. They still refuse to listen to their player base and often go out of their way to cause drama within the community. It had nothing to do with a lack of content. They never claimed there was anything about the game that was not there and were actively working on/updating to meet the content goals they set.

Game companies that divert man hours to producing paid DLC for unfinished games while consistantly failing to meet self imposed deadlines, Ark is your example here. Game companies that promise things to early adopters and then fuck over said early adopters Trion's world wide release of Archeage LEAPS to mind. then again, everything about Archeage's release was a total clusterfuck.

Well, you kind of have to admit that ARKs exp is kind of worth it.

adam courtney no I dont. Ark was not worth the headaches caused by their greed. this is my final reply to you, I am not having this argument again.

I love demos too but there's not really a reason for a company to make one. If the game is bad people can see for themselves for free causing a lost sale. Demos can also take time away from development unless it's something like the first mission or 100 turns or something. But it's crap like in your list is why I don't get any games on launch day anymore. I'd rather wait for the reviews, patches, and sales than be first.

what genres are you looking for? Fighting, FPS, RTS, and Action-Adventure are kind of ripe with hardcore games right now so I disagree.
