There is nothing better, to get a nervous flyers mind away from thinking about the 'what if', than getting them immersed and involved in the actual flying. I think it's a fear of not being in control of your 'fate' that causes phobias and anxiety. Nice to see Faith back in the aircraft and really warming to the experience. Nice one Nick!

Good job, Nick! Faith was obviously nervous but you handled that really well. You went early in the day before the thermals had kicked off, you flew very smoothly and gently, and you involved Faith in flying the aeroplane to show her there was nothing to worry about. Another excellent vid. Thanks! Vince

You can't beat early morning and late evenings for flying or photography. We love your female flying companions. They may be nervous but you help them to feel at ease. I think Faith is beginning to realise why people fly for pleasure.

500 hrs aren't so many. Do not be too self-confident, every single passenger should get a briefing about what to do in case of emergency. Because you've got a ballistic recovery system (BRS) installed on your aircraft, correct?
@LetsGoFlying7 ай бұрын
500 hours is an average of 10 years experience for most private pilots which I have gathered in just 5 years. Currency is king and I’m extremely current on type in a varying range of conditions from the mild to the extreme. The day in question was extremely calm with almost nil wind and blue skies. I pride myself on my attention to detail and how thorough I am as a pilot and I treat my aircraft and my hobby with the respect it deserves and never get complacent. Just because you don’t see a safety briefing on the heavily edited video made for entertainment purposes doesn’t mean it didn’t happen! If you watched my channel regularly you would know this and you would also know the answer to your own question.
@gawebm7 ай бұрын
Uhh - flying a single engine aircraft is dangerous. I've been flying for over 30 years and I NEVER forget this every time I take off. She has every reason to be nervous. You do her, and her loved ones, a disservice when you downplay the real risk of flying.
@LetsGoFlying7 ай бұрын
The risk is very small mechanically - my aircraft is tested to +6 / -3 G so the airframe is insanely strong. Engine failures are extremely rare with the modern rotax engines too and even if you have one the stall speed of the aircraft is less than 40mph, so providing you’re a half decent pilot and don’t just fly it straight into a tree or power cable, there’s not a lot you can do to hurt yourself in one aside from getting yourself into a spin but that comes under the “half decent pilot” category. You’ve got to make a series of fundamental errors to even get into a spin in the first place and shouldn’t have a licence if you even get near to an incipient spin! Even then it’s entirely recoverable providing you’ve got the height to do so! If you take risks, you will encounter danger but flying on an extremely calm and still air day in a well maintained aircraft with a current pilot, you are more likely to crash on the way to the airfield than you are in that plane!
@spikespa52087 ай бұрын
Same could be said of driving and boating. Learn, maintain the equipment, don't take risks, pay attention.
@Delibro6 ай бұрын
Do you also talk like that to people using cars? The States alone have 40 000 deaths per year in traffic. So driving is more dangerous, why you don't say that to everyone driving with you in a car? You do need to know whom you are talking to, is it a life long flying pilot or is it a layperson with 16 years old and nervous flyer. You do your surrounding a big disservice when you don't differentiate whom you are talking to. Also, we are not in a risk assessment here.
