This video is about my 15-year-old seal mitted with a blaze Ragdoll cat, Charlie. Almost 3 months ago, my other cat, Trigg, who he lived with for 14.5 years, died, and Charlie had something happen on August 3, 2024, that made him stop eating his food. So I discuss all of that here. Of course, only you know your sweet Charlie. I knew it was nearing the end for my Sundae when, like with Trigg, she started to just eat a little bit, she wanted to eat but after a few bites would stop until a couple of days before when she stopped eating altogether because she had cancer. Poor sweetheart is probably trying to process what happened to his buddy for so many years. It is so hard on everyone. Please give Charlie a hug for me.💕

We are also adjusting after the loss of our House Mother, Wanda on Monday after a diagnosis of lymphoma in July. We’ve realised how strong our bond was as a family of five (2hooman, 3 kitties). Ragnar (my Ragdoll boy) and Angel (house mother in training) have also been looking out the windows. Ragnar has been staying very close to me, which is lovely. They are much younger than your Charlie and are a bonded pair. So they have each other for comfort. But we have a little way to go before our family is a unit again. Thank fully Charlie has his lovely Mum who clearly loves him to bits. I hope you two find a happy place again soon.

My Devon Rex Gracie has bouts of anorexia. I found that pumpkin mixed with a tiny bit of unrefined coconut oil and a small pinch of miralax seems to help get her back on track. I also give a teaspoon fennel tea. The vets were astonished that I had figured that out. Would like to figure out exactly what's wrong but after doing several tests, the vet refused to help for 3 months and kept her urine and blood samples without further testing. She got better but now is having problems again so I'm going to take her to a different vet that will actually do the further testing instead of refusing.
@princessbabibear47942 ай бұрын
I also need to add that I feed her the mixture of canned pumpkin miralax and coconut oil on the tip of my finger. I use a syringe to the fennel into her mouth. But you could also use your finger to place it in the mouth. It's a somewhat Rounded tablespoon of pumpkin. I warm it in the microwave with a smidge of water before adding the miralax and coconut oil. Coconut oil is literally half an eraser at the end of a pencil. And the miralax is less than a fourth of a teaspoon.
@Floppycats2 ай бұрын
OH my goodness on the vet refusing. You might reach out to Pam - I linked to her stuff in the description. She's been a godsend for us. Unfortunately, Miralax makes Charlie pretty high. He wasn't constipated, thank goodness - as a kidney cat, that could happen....but he's been pretty regular because of digestive enzymes.

@@princessbabibear4794 Nice - glad that works for you! I won't be trying it because we're on the mend on this one...and he's doing really well. Think the bacteria infection was a bit of a different beast, usually one to tackle with antibiotics, but glad we discovered it late, as I wouldn't have wanted him on antibiotics to destroy his gut flora.

You've been through a very rough time for the last several months. You sound exhausted and in need of a trip somewhere far away for a massage and some Jenny-time. Your mom or Amy would take care of Charlie.

Sweet, sweet video. He's older and compromised right now, but, Jenny is Charlie on antibiotics presently? If so, I'm thinking he shouldn't be susceptible to further infection from the same bacteria while he is. Maybe that helps, tho, I 100% agree with you that his happiness is the priority, and that, is the best medicine. 🤗💕

He’s not on antibiotics. He’s passed the point of needing them honestly. It’s rained a few times. So I’m guessing it’s gone.

Is there a barrier of some kind on the top of the fence to keep him from climbing over it?
@Floppycats2 ай бұрын
No. He has only scaled the fence like 3 times in 15 years - which is not bad when we go outside every day. He is also brought in from outside after he does that, so he's learned not to do it.

@@Floppycats I wish I could afford it, My female Ragdoll was just diagnosed with a bad thyroid and since shes been on medication I have a hard time getting her to eat. She refuses to eat the food the vet prescribed for her inflamed stomach so I buy a variety of different foods.
@Floppycats2 ай бұрын
@@breyerlady38 Sorry to hear that. I wonder if a holistic approach might help. Why is her stomach inflamed? Is she on methimazole for her thyroid? Are you giving her pills or putting it transdermally in her ear? And you might see if she is being over medicated - was she ravenous before the methimazole?

Charlie is absolutely beautiful. But, I was wondering, since you have spent so much time at the vet with both Trigg and Charlie, what type of animal health insurance do you have. With my Kitty Kat I never got insurance for her. But at the end of her life taking her in for an exam, testing and finally having to have her put to sleep cost me hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Would appreciate any insight on this and it would be vary helpful to know in case I do get another kitten down the line. Thank you. 👍😉
