First two flights are at the end (starting about 10min30sec). Been a long 5 years building this plane, but it was all worth while as well as it flies!! Here is a Late afternoon flight a few months later: • Beautiful evening flig...

I didn't see a bomb drop on the underbelly...perhaps you could add one and drop it on the knuckleheads who gave your video a thumbs down! I really enjoyed it! Even buying models that you build with plans out of a box is a mostly lost art today. 5 years and from scratch...that's an accomplishment! Well done!

On the real Stuka's the bomb was mounted on a trapeze like arrangement that swung it clear of the arc of the propeller before releasing it as the plane was nearly perfectly vertical during a dive.

Older video, but it does bring back memories when I was building and flying RC. I even got to the point of teaching others to fly RC via the typical buddy-box system. So I know how much time, effort and work it takes to make such aircraft. And I can also understand the absolute "pucker" factor on your first, second and sequential flights with that build. I was holding my breathe on the first landing, but you did it very smoothly and life-like. Bravo sir, Bravo!

I too had that Cox Stuka, had to take a bath every day for 6 months per agreement with my mom to get it. After 6 months had passed she drove me to the hobby shop and made good on the agreement. Took about two tenths of a second to crash it, perhaps less. Used to swing it around on the stings with a small rock in the front until as dizzy as a dizzy thing. Unique we had the same life experience, hope you actually got to see yours fly under its own power!! Ciao.

Here's to line control planes with nitro engines! My father grew up building big beautiful balsa and silk line control planes and when I was a kid we got a little nitro engine line control plane. Mine was made of sturdy plastic parts that required basically zero build time and would just pop apart in a crash though, ready to snap back together for the next run rather than weeks or careful rebuilding. Now that I have a son of my own to share the hobby with I tried finding the modern version and ended up with a very disappointing lightweight foam line control plane with a small brushed electric engine that nearly squelched my interest. I could simply swing it faster than the motor would drive it and basic ups and downs get old quickly anyway. Trying desperately to recreate that experience for my son I found an old Cox engine and a vintage balsa line control kit, but before I could get it up and running I fell in love with electric R/C. First quadcopters, then helicopters, and on to planes. I started with foam RTF models but now I'm hooked on building DIY foamboard designs (mostly the freely available designs from Flite Test) and tend to fly daily. Line control planes were the spark that led to a very important and very positive theme in my family's lives, and I am deeply grateful, so it's fun to hear that we are just one instance of this phenomenon.
