150 Mile Race: Arrivals!

The second race is here and its a 150 miles! We still dont know the results of the first pigeon race because of a time discrepency in the clocks but that should be figured out and the results should be available in a couple days. The birds did well today despite having 12mph head winds. We got 8 birds on the first drop and 3 on the second so i think those 11 together will provide us with a good result.

@@redstarloft5211 Great. Hope you get them all home. The first race was always going to be all over the place for the babies. ... everything was new to them, being in the basket for longer, splitting from other birds on the way home. etc.

I love seeing tired birds . It means they're racing not just homing . It's banging the protein into them for a couple of days and seeing how they pick up . Your afternoon vid looks like the first birds have picked up well. Nice one . Hope you place.. Enjoying the vids 👍

Wow! Mark 150 miles more than half clocked in, plus the head winds I think you did excellent job. i can't wait to see the next race... We are talking about blue bar white flight I also like the grey or silver they are may favorite.....

How many birds can you enter? Back when I belong to a club you had a 10 bird limit per race. Back in early 70’s. We had to pull the color coded rubber band off after bird enter loft and put it in a stb clock and turn key over. If clock was over 2 seconds off when they open it , your disqualified. I guess that’s old school! Nice loft.

@@redstarloft5211 .. I get ya, Mark. But it shouldn't overlap that way with two races in the books and no results available yet.. Somethings rotten in the state of Denmark here. It's a whole week between races with plenty of time to figure it out. Everything is electronic now and should be very fast with results. (Instantly).. Heck, it used to be faster in the old days with Benzing clocks with capsules. We had the results the night of the race after all the members brought there clocks in for checking.. Just sayin'.

Do you normally feed them by calling them into the loft, they seem hesitant to come in with you there? Maybe do the same thing during the week so they get used to it for race day!!

I always call them in with feed and whistling and some are just more hesitant than others. the first drop did very well, only spent seconds on the roof.

I was driving down 41 this morning to my cottage. I saw a group of maybe 20-25 birds just north of Attica at about 8:45ish. Cant guarantee they were racers, but I kinda thought they were.

I think the birds did good . We start at 150m here and goes to 300 for YB. Good ones will show up at 200m . Good luck 👍

Red Star Loft ... 350 very limited young birds can do it , so far out of three 350 mile races For the last three years for the futurity birds none of them made it home unfortunately.

Win lose or draw we have to take chances are your birds get stronger and faster they must train sitting in the loft we’re not making better fliers what’s wrong with liars got to take chances you lose some you win some but the Strong ones will always find a way home the weak onewell oh well
