Nice to see some dozer work on your channel! Spent some time on a D5K myself. Being it was an LGP version, I remember it being able to float anywhere. It would stay on top of this horrible wet topsoil/clay mix that a Cat 323 excavator would sink to the turntable in. I just wish the control setup was more similar to the larger dozers, like the D6R I usually operate (apparently I'm not the only one who thinks that according to Michigan Cat). I also completely understand using your dump truck instead of using a loader. You already have the truck and excavator. I find a lot of people who comment are used to large operations with huge budgets to buy or rent whatever machine is optimal for the job; they don't understand using what you have.

Nice vid! Was the cat a rental or a new purchase? Would be nice to see a video of the other half of what you are doing on this project.

Not sure how the contours of the land are but it doesn't seem like alot of material... We move like 1.8k yards a day with one small excavator and a dozer but it's always different. I would agree that the owner is spending waayyyy to much money but that's to your benefit my friend! What's your typical job size range?

That pile on this video was already half gone at least. It wrapped around the house. The hill to get up where the dump backs down was very narrow and around a 36% grade to start with. As far as using a loader for all of it, I could see it if it was flatter/less grade, A loader would have struggled in the sand pit where we're dumping and may have had trouble going back up the hill on some clay. The dozer has been striping topsoil and spreading topsoil on other parts of the hill and no way would I have run a loader on it. I do get that a loader could have done the majority of the work but I would have taken 2-3 more days. We'll have a total of about 20-24 hours in moving the dirt and backfilling/regrading the holes ect. Size range I would say average moving 600 cy for an average house. This is on the bigger side for sure in this region. I also had the gravel for the driveway hauled in at 52 tons a load. Not hauling 350ton from the pit we'd be there for 2 weeks haha.

That is a lot of iron running . For the quantity and rate of dirt being moved . You're either losing money or the land owner was over charged.
