My Dad was friends with Captain Talbot. I visited him and wife a couple of times at their home in Matsqui Village. Also joined my Dad for a trip up into Pitt Lake to help the Captain retrieve a scow at a closed logging camp. Turned out to be an overnight trip which was fine by me. 1980's or early 1990's

Another time Captain had to beach the Swan on the Matsqui side below the Mission RR bridge. He'd hit an underwater log and she was taking on water..He told the deckhand to tie a line to a tree higher up on the beach to keep the bow up as the stern was settling..This was relayed to me from my Father but i don't know how the Swan got off the beach

@@LANDSEAAIRCANADA He passed a few years ago. During WW2 he served as a deck hand on a tug making the run between Vancouver and Port Angeles. I believe he was in his late teens and had to have a passport. Also it was armed with a 3 pdr gun on the bow to deter the enemy. I'm afraid I've forgotten the tug's name. Did you know some of the ferries were armed according to my Aunt, a former CWAC?
