The golden rule. Never let the TV licence man over your threshold and never admit to owning a TV. (the TV detector van is fake too)

They pestered us a great deal, with threatening letters, when we lived in England 20 years ago. I told them to sod off and respect our rights. We had no broadcast TV--then or since--and I was mightily fed up with the presumption of guilt and harrassment!

No idea but I can deduce they eere talking about a proposed prison to be built? Looks like a model of one and ties in with Annie Walker being nicked for not having a licence. Don't know where specifically though.

Back in those days not paying a TV licence was considered very serious and jail time was a possibility. Society, as it was then, relied on television for their main entertainment, nowadays we see important messages on Facebook, X or TikTok, but in those days it was a reminder to pay your TV licence. Coronation Street being very popular in those days used their platform; the viewers would rush out and get a TV licence.
