2nd Chapter of Acts ushered in the best of Christian rock and pop songs. Especially when Phil Keaggy joined the band.

I grew up listening to 2nd Chapter of Acts. I guess I shouldn't be surprised to learn you'd worked with them, Lee. I used to see them often on a Christian television program in the late '70s, performing there in the studio. Their harmonies were so outstanding. My mother always used to say that is how angels would probably sound if they sang. I think Annie's "Easter Song" is one of the greatest songs ever written. The late Keith Green did an incredible cover of it, too.

Hi Lee, I am Just so blown away by all the artists you have so graciously provided your talent to in both the Christian and secular music worlds. I have enjoyed all your excellent stories about gigs and the people you have become life long friends with. It's completely heart warming to see how close you are to them all. 2nd chapter was a staple growing up as a young lad, and having 4 older brothers who knew good music I was exposed to a great melting pot of musical goodness. In my humble opinion people will never find better vocal harmonies than 2nd chapter (The carpenters share that accolade) I love your work Lee. You're a blessing and gifted artist, and funny to say that if you never would have started this channel, I don't think any of us would have even known the range of talent you offered artists. Maybe some day you can tell us all a story of your time working as the music / band director on HAPPY HOUR. Thank you again for all you do. You're one inspiring person

My favorite 2nd Chapter of Acts album. I think it was considered a kids album when it came out. The album flows, though, pretty close to the book The Lion, the Witch, and The Wardrobe. Thus why I think maybe the transitions are a bit abrupt when you aren't listening to the vinyl. The digital has those stupid interruptions.

So good to hear you. I am 5-6 days behind and trying to catch up from both ends. Every time I hear you talking of the Herrings, I have to wonder if they are from the batch of Herrings households we knew along the road. They were all musical, and pipeliners and revivalists. I think I usually go wikipedia and genealogy hunting and rule it out, but it is kind of wild how all the ones I've ever known of, are musicians. 😂

This video popped up on my KZbin feed, and of course "2nd Chapter of Acts" caught my eye. I have not heard this album in years and yet I found myself singing along and I still know every word. Almost all of the songs run together, as it's a single concept album. Back in the 80s I used to play it every evening while washing the dishes. I saw the group in concert a few times between 1980 and 1987, mostly in San Jose, Santa Cruz, and Salinas. Amazing sound. And speaking of cruises... I was on all the Moody Blues Cruises, and once they disbanded at the end of 2018, it has become the On The Blue Cruise. This year's cruise sails on April 5 and there are still rooms available in case anyone is interested..... Justin Hayward is the headliner, and guest bands include The Zombies, The Little River Band, The Alan Parsons Project, Starship with Mickey Thomas, Al Stewart (he is a HOOT!), Grand Funk Railroad, Rare Earth, and a number of lesser-known bands and artists. All aboard!

I never did listen to 2nd Chapter much - not sure why, maybe because they were just a little earlier than when I hit the scene to listen to music. But they remind me of Silverwind so much. Lee - the reason the songs cut off is intentional because the album in its original form was just one continuous song that moved from one to the next. It plays like that with vinyl but on other media they cut off in the middle of the transitions to the other songs.

Until browsing Discogs credits awhile back, I didn't realize that Waddy played on the "Buckingham Nicks" album (1974), prior to Stevie/Lindsey joining Fleetwood Mac, so he goes back a long way with her indeed.

My family wore out this record back in the day. The Roar Of Live is inspired by the Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis, and except for the album side break, all the songs run in and out without breaks, just like Sgt. Pepper's. I knew Phil Keaggy did guitar on this album, his style is unmistakable, but I had no idea you were the bassist!

One thing you can say about Christian rock music is there were some things like this album that were absolutely unique, but lost to most of the outside world. Hell, I don't even think many Christians got into this album. A novelty at best, it quickly went out of print, but you can still buy used ones for only two dollars.
