another great video, i do setups for a violin shop and have found that a spring grabber through the end pin hole is great for setting sound posts. laminated wood is a bugger to move!

Amazing what a little water in the wood can do! I've got some old guitar tuners I made a jack like you have out of plastic, I made mine from plexiglass for gluing cleats in places impossible to reach. 15:28 lol I make that moan too when I stick something into a hole! :P Good video Jerry!
@RosaStringWorks8 жыл бұрын
Randy Schartiger yeah it is great for putting in cleats. I do my best work in a hole. Thanks for watching.

Hi Jerry,what's happen with the 137 video about the Martin guitar? Thanks for all your videos! Sorry about my english,i am french!
@lrstaf64 жыл бұрын
Hi Jerry; Adding a strengthener inside the top seems like a great idea, however; I have a question. Won't that plate inside the top interfere with the sound post? Perhaps if you ever have to do something similar in the future, you could put in about a 6" treble bar similar to the bass bar, but much shorter. In bending the thickness, or height is more important than the width, so a bar may work better and still be over just far enough not to interfere with the sound post.

Hi Jerry what was the symptom of this sag- string buzz? I mean some of these plywood basses a student player etc wouldn't even notice a dip unless it made the bass unplayable. And half the time they're off 1/2" from the factory.
@RosaStringWorks8 жыл бұрын
Tioga Fretworks it was an older man that on this bass and it was just very obvious how bad it sagged down.
@HBSuccess8 жыл бұрын
Jerry did he have the bridge jacked up to stop string buzz- or did the sag not impact the bridge? I see that bass had an adjustable bridge.
@RosaStringWorks8 жыл бұрын
Tioga Fretworks yes it was that much higher. After the fix, I was able to drop the bridge way down.

Howdy Jerry...another perfect project! i have asked few people about dear antlers...our laws are so complicated,and so expensive,that it just isn't worth messing with ...i would pay over 200$ for single antler,and all the paper work and shipping...it is just so expensive i had to say no... Sorry my friend...i wish it would be easyer,but my country is special in many ways... BTW-have you thought about making T-shirts with your amblem,and selling it on site?
@RosaStringWorks8 жыл бұрын
Tihomir Kolarek Long ago I had shirts for my band. Maybe I'll try that again after the channel gets bigger. Thanks for the idea and for watching.

You know Jerry you might think about doing for a living, you're pretty good at it! LOL! If Jerry can!t fix 'er' nobody can fix'er! I have seen the area around the F holes on fiddles, mandolins, and guitars where the wood is not level with rest of the top, whether it is the o part or the inside pointI thought it was how the top was made, or it changed naturally because of the arch of the top.
@RosaStringWorks8 жыл бұрын
Audio Tech Labs thank you for watching. It is a fairly common problem. But this one was pretty severe for a nice, relatively new bass.
@lrstaf66 жыл бұрын
Audio Tech Labs: I made a cello top once where the lower points of the F-holes curved up a little on purpose. Never got the rest of that cello done, as I developed an allergy to the mold in my basement and couldn't work down there anymore. I still have that cello top in my current garage. Rosa String Works: Loved your fix Jerry.

On your little board make a tablesaw cut the lenth of the board glue a hacksaw blade in then you have a straight meter -- your board should`nt bend , Just raise the ends protected on felt or cotton ; Just about get away using the metal fiddle string note tuners for various lifts in a section at once use an old martin guitar head to mount them on .

See what I meant about locking machine heads?
@RosaStringWorks5 жыл бұрын
You also have to remember that I'm doing this for customers. If they don't choose those kinds of tuners what can I do about it. In fact I actually bought those locking tuners for a customer and tried to put them on his guitar and he made me put the originals back on. So I have a brand-new set in stock that I haven't been able to get rid of.

@@RosaStringWorks No accounting for taste... Probably a wall hanger... changing a string on stage, especially when accompanying a cabaret artist. I'll tell you a story about that when our keyboard player missed the ship we were working on which left a bass player, a drummer and me having to accompany the cabaret or a live TV broadcast.
