This is a great video! I have all these shots in my "bag" because I refuse to leave any options on the table. Stull, my preference is to play one-handed on both sides because of two things: first of all, my main injury these days is a weak knee that limits my movement (and my balance/recovery after the stroke) so the increased strike zone helps me stay competitive, but secondly, I also prefer the "flow" and "leverage" of one-handed shots. Previously, however, I've had wrist issues that made it so the only way I could tolerate the pain was to play two-hands from both sides. Honestly, I played a whole season that way and I won way more that way--but I attribute that to the fact that, in tennis, it's better to have great legs than great arms (it's better to have an arm injury in tennis than it is to have leg injury). Obviously, the best possible scenario is to be uninjured but, in my 50s, I find that to be rare. Anyone who doubts how devastating two hands from both sides can be in the hands (or should I say legs?) of a worthy opponent should review Monica Seles' performance from 1991-1992.

Welcome back! Can’t wait for the much anticipated 2 handed forehand video.

I switched from two handed backhand to one handed. Now my backhand is a little more reliable than my forehand. At least against players that vary pace and are somewhat erratic or inconsistent. I just love the stretch I feel when I open up on the follow through. I don’t feel handcuffed. I still often revert back to two handed when returning big serves or when I’m under a lot of pressure and need a little boost or help guide a ball.

Great video. Would love to see more content from you. Very nuanced videos. I have 1 handers on both sides, and I recognize the timing issue certainly with 1 handers on bh side especially. That said, I do find the extra racket head speed possible from flow and leverage on fh especially enables a lot of spin, esp. spin that could be a critical part of our game for creating angles, taking balls out of people's strike zones, pushing people back and side to side. I don't see many 2 handed fhs around me but it seems similar to a 2 handed bh, but from what I can tell spin potential with 2 hander is noticeably less. What are your thoughts? You clearly have a more accurate picture of their differences, being able to play and coach both.

Hi there, First of, I really appreciate your contents a lot. I this is the best 2 handed forehand contents. I personally don’t think that the TTT channel could do it. The two-handed is so popular in Asia. I’m lefty. My forehand is weaker than my 2 handed backhand. I used eastern FH which is very stable and I love it. However, I changed to the semi -western so I can pull to ball cross court more, ended up need more time and swing to hit the ball. I want your advice of what combination should I try. Should I try 2 handed forehand?

Excellent analysis. I have tried both and I hate the lack of freedom in the two hander. And I also hate the additional torque on my back. And you are so right that all two-handers look nearly identical and if every pro used two-handed backhands, I would just stop following tennis. I admit that I have a great one handed backhand that I just crush for winners a lot. I have more winners on the backhand side than forehand even though I also have a great forehand. This is probably because most players have terrible backhands no matter what grip they choose so it's a lot easier to it by ppl. The thing that I disagree with is that I think the backhand stroke uses stronger muscles than the forehand at least at the wrist. if you extend your wrist at contact which is what i do, it's much stronger than breaking your wrist at contact on the forehand. BTW, whatever happened to the BEND AND SNAP serve video you promised on several occasions??? It's at least one year late. Probably never gonna happen.

Let’s be honest, 2 handed forehands are for people who can’t hit regular forehands.

2 handed strokes, you run more,. More stress on the back & body.. Think of the spine twisting.. Slice & volley are more difficult to learn..
