Great to see a young couple following their dreams. Careers have a bad habit of delaying your dreams until you are too old or too tied down.

Wow .. Spain and snow at around 08:00 .. it still looks like even 6x6 might use some snow chains, at least on one axel for safer trip. I also thought that it might be better to trip in group, then 09:47 hit me with that stuck driver, who was probably caught by rough weather, as no one sane would drive in regular car through that snowy abandoned road. At least the road seemed to me a bit abandoned.

@Coordinator613 жыл бұрын
Does your Volvo still has its petrol engine? It sounds as a diesel when you are underneath it. Petrol will be very expensive as these trucks go up to 30-40 litres/100 km roughly.

It has been swapped to a Mercedes Benz 3 litre, 6 cylinder inline diesel :-) 12L/100km

What a wonderful trip, abandoned roads and off-road experience. Could you shed some insight on route planning, and how to find those connected roads ? Are you using some old military or hiking maps, or guessing from satellite maps ?
@tth03133 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom Actually we didn't do any route planning! Our totally stock Garmin GPS has a strange way of leading us into the wilderness, haven't figured out why it always suggest the most rural and damaged roads, but it is fun (unless we are using it in our daily driver!) But remember that the video is edited, so we also drove A LOT of paved roads :-)
@maikelnait449510 ай бұрын
Reading your description reminded me of two separate incidents when trusting my Garmin nearly caused some serious problems. Once in Norway it recommended a wooden bridge hardly safe for pedestrians and once a gravel road crossing a railway. In both cases I would have seriously damaged my Jeep and got stuck.

The Volvo uses 12L/100km or 8 km/l - so it is a bit thirsty yes :-) But this trip, for 2 persons, all included (vaccines, ferry tickets, food, fuel, souvenirs and so on) was less than 6000 US$ for 3 months, the biggest problem was that we had no income and still had expenses back home :-)
@bhoy73552 жыл бұрын
