These single-seater buggies are powered by a 600cc motorbike engine (you can choose between Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda or Kawasaki) which is able to produce 130HP at 16.000rpm, for a total weight of 300kg!

From the seat with those rpms I’m sure it feels fast enough (with the 600cc on tarmac), but the keyboard warrior in me tells me that I’d want a 1300cc busa or zx14r engine. In the sand or hill climbing I’m sure there would be a benefit to having the extra power. These look ridiculously fun and the consumables can’t be too expensive.

Yup smaller and lighter means more time on tires and brakes definitely... When autocrossing I noticed that heavier cars wear tires and breaks exponentially faster.. like all things being equal if you double the weight you square the amount of force on parts..

I had an uncle that did open cart racing back in the 70s and 80s. He had 2 or 3 machines, and at least one was powered by an engine out of a Honda CB350. But overall, very reminiscent of the super modified class you'll see on dirt tracks in the States.

its bad set up, that orange car has no negative camber, when you add that to a very soft rear spring rate, you get the reat tire biting and digging in and wanting to flip the car, you can see why its set up like that as zro negative camber gives super grip firing him out of corners

About 15 years ago I put a 125cc engine on a go kart frame with a golf cart rear end, was wicked fast with no suspension lol...clutch under seat ledge and a big pile to shift....death trap but there r awesome!

Yes mini open wheeled is a thing but they also race these on dirt a lot, correct me if I'm wrong but that's what they are built for is dirt right? Once upon a time I was looking into these things as a fun semi-affordable way to get into Motorsports and fabrication. Side note kind of, they have go-kart racing you know on dirt tracks and most of those that I've seen actually have bodies that somewhat resemble you know modified cars

@@malcolmroberts6749 in the US mini sprint cars are called the legends series, they all use a toyota tacoma(hilux) axle...but are still expensive, any racing is expensive. The cheapest racing you could do would be karts, or maybe enduro dirtbike stuff where you just need a 6,000 dollar bike and about another 10k in equioment and spare parts. Or you could do like SCCA autocross, or spec miatas...thats usually peoples street cars except for the miatas

First time seeing these right now. Definitely alotta fun. Kind of reminds me of when they run the stadium trucks on asphalt, but it's smaller and it's a buggy. The stadium trucks really shouldn't do as good as they do , but it's impressive to see a good driver haul ass in one because I'm sure it's like being a one legged man in an ass kicking contest to control. Definitely hard on parts too, but alot of fun to see something out of its element work as good as it does.
