Amazing to think how much cleaner it all was through downtown on the 5 going back 6 years ago. In your video, I did not see any tents, trash, or graffiti that are all there now. I miss the days of old.

Great work Jim. Unfortunately the West Seattle Bridge is closed indefinitely due to cracks that have formed that might eventually compromise the structural integrity. They say it will stay closed through at least the end of 2021 while they figure out whether they want to repair or replace it all together.

Nicely done! I love how these videos capture the excitement of roads like I-5 because that road through Seattle doesn't get a whole lot of love.... (Plus, I'll be looking forward to next week for sure... I live in Seattle now, but Tacoma is home for me! :) )

Like I said in an earlier video I was there in '74 when it was a sleepy town nobody talked about. In the last 25 years I have read so much about it and after seeing these 7 videos it is not just hype. As good if not the best city you have driven through. The series also reminded me why the grunge period was one the best in rock music history.

Would you rather I sit and film crawling traffic? Under normal circumstances that lane I was in would have taken me to the same place but I had to think of my viewers there :)
@kushantaiidan7 жыл бұрын
Hehe! No biggie, Just noticed it, and I do a few naughty things when driving too! But when I started considering doing a similar style of filming for my channel I realized how important traffic flow is for making these videos nice and smooth and aesthetic. I can see how much work you put into these videos for sure. Just be glad you don't have Kangaroos there.

And of course, SeaTac has been added to my list of other places to explore. There's gotta be a great location to set up for some great plane spotting! My hobbies are many, Wife says I have too many of them. heh heh

I loved Seattle. Btw I used to go to South Center alot. Do NOT get caught on I-405 between South Center and I-90 during rush hour. It is absolutely TRAGIC. Only 3 lanes each way and 1 of them is an HOV lane.. Absolute hatred for that section. When I was there, especially when I was those ramps just outside of Downtown Seattle, I often wondered how would those bridges and ramps fair in the major earthquake they're expecting to hit Seattle, if they will survive or not.

Great video-- love Seattle, but did you find that I-5 was a super rough ride? That was my experience, just a really poor quality road which was loud and vibrated the whole car.
@Freewayjim7 жыл бұрын
Thanks I did not find it super rough but I understand that the original 1967 pavement is still in use through downtown. Not as rough as the northeast and not as smooth as the southeast.
@forceinfinity7 жыл бұрын
@CaliforniaHuman, from my first hand experience, I felt that the viaduct portion of I-5 south of downtown in general, and the expansion joints along that viaduct in particular felt rough each time I went over them (the joints felt worse than any other expansion joint I've ever driven over in other cities). As to the road noise, it did come off to me as a bit loud
@compdude1007 жыл бұрын
I-5 in North Seattle was a lot worse up until a few years ago when WSDOT finally ground down the pavement. It used to go bump-bump-bump-bump when you were driving over it at full speed.

Great Video, You maneuver around Seattle as if you have lived there prior. Do you study road maps and pre-plan your destinations before you drive and shoot your videos? One thing I know for certain, You are the man!!!! FreewayJim!!!!!!
@Freewayjim6 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I'd never been to Seattle until these videos, literally (starting with 16-20). I have a natural gift for directions and such but I have studied maps all my life and before a trip I take a crash course with Google Maps and Street View to get a better feel for it and I generally do have a plan of what I want shoot before getting there although sometimes things like traffic and general whims can change those plans on the spur of the moment :) Thank you much!
@MrJamesgrate6 жыл бұрын
Wow, I thought something similar to that but you go more extensive into your work. Hate that you had to reveal your secret, but the end result is a video that gives the viewer (Like me) the sensation of riding shotgun with you, and appreciating the various interstates and tourist attractions that you drive by... I love your videos, because they help me to relax and enjoy the thrill of the ride...Can't say it enough, but Thank you for your work!!!!

@AJTLfilms7 жыл бұрын
Freewayjim It's just a suggestion, I 81 is a beautiful drive you should make a new video of, your equipment and editing software are much more advanced now than in 2009. You should also do a downtown street tour.
@Freewayjim7 жыл бұрын
I've driven I-81 several times, it's nice but so-so compared to what's out west, yeah there's all kinds of things that could be filmed, time, traffic and weather have the final say.
