And btw Samira. I don't know if you're class is covering the pericyclic reactions in general but the next three lessons which will be released over the next few days will be over cycloaddition reactions, electrocyclic reactions, and sigmatropic rearrangements. Again, glad you found this helpful!

@@ChadsPrep Hi Chad, yes the next lectures would by on heterocycle reactions and the topic you just mentioned are already covered too, I'm waiting for your new releases. Really appreciate your time and videos. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻😊

Around 36:47 wouldn't you rotate the dienophile to have the carbonyl groups on the LHS for the endo rule? I'm just a bit confused. But overall great video.

I have a question, how do you know when to flip the dienophile? or it has to do with the resonance?
@ChadsPrep2 жыл бұрын
I believe you're referring to the regioselectivity of the reaction which is related to some resonance considerations and is covered beginning about 19:00. But ultimately, you are trying to avoid 1,3 relationships between an electron-donating group on the diene and an electron-withdrawing group on the dienophile. We often 'flip' the dienophile to avoid these 1,3 relationships. Hope this helps!
