Post few days Anurag gets arrested for his theft. After he is arrested, we see his house items are rearranged and the dustbin is top of the loft. Where accident happens and the dustbin saves his daughter. Sethupati adopts anurags daughter and takes dustbin home as it saved her life and treats her as lakshmi. After 13 years of jail anurag comes home. First raps Sethupatis daughter with that taklu guy. Sethupati sets up a dustbin story to catch the rap eist, and at the end we come to know its anurags daughter.

1.The police were actually following nalasivam and created a coincidence scene for the audience like they met him in the shop while searching for the dustbin. They knew he would come after them when they said that Maharaja offered lakhs of rupees for the dustbin since he's a needy . This movie is disturbingly awesome. Love Vijay Sethupathi's acting. With this movie... He is in top level. Always loved Kamal Hassan, in these kind of movies. First time I felt.. No one else can do this role. Some points which strike me is... 1. A person Karma is bad.. Life will be spoiled and has to pay dearly like Anurag in this movie. 2. Sethupathi too have same love and affection towards kid with different outcome. An ordinary man with ordinary honest life too can save lot of money which he offers to police. 3:48 I've already commented on another video regarding the snake element in a channel called take okay. But I noticed another detail just now. The object that the snake pushes down to break looks like a candle and Maharaja's daughter is named Jyothi which means light🤯🤯🤯. This is peak writing and visual storytelling. This is cinema. My previous comment 👇🏻 "Regarding the snake element, this is my understanding: In the scene, we see that a snake comes into his house, observes VJS and leaves while pushing a bottle and causing damage. My understanding here is that the snake is a metaphor for the Singam Puli character, who as per the story has been following and observing VJS character. Here it's conveyed that a snake(culprit) has come into the house and caused a damage before leaving. In the police station scene VJS character refuses to leave the station and breaks the loft revealing a hidden snake. He will come close to the door only after catching it. If we notice, in the intermission scene the second villain reveals that the man who Maharaja is searching for is in the police station. So here we can understand that VJS with his persistence ( shown by his strength ) is looking for the hidden snake(culprit) in the police station and will leave only after finding it. And lastly Singam Puli character has a mannerism that sounds like a snake's hiss. This is my take from the film, I might be wrong / over analysing a metaphor."

The story is so good and well placed. In actual timeline, if we start with rape incident. Maharaja came to know that one of them has stolen someone’s car as he found a toll plaza tax receipt. There was car’s number so he found the car and then also the culprit in the bar. He killed him. There he came to know that they were three and one of them is in police. So it now the time when maharaja goes into police station with his dustbin story. It means he didn’t come into police station for any FIR or something but for his own investigation. And I think he killed the culprit very same night or maybe the next as when rape happened. As one of culprit’s friend in police station said he is missing since three or four days.

My interpretation for the appearance of snake is not only symbolic but very relevant. We can clearly notice that when Maharaja smashed himself in agony to what happened or who did this to his daughter, he literally has no clue. Then this snake sneaks into his house where he was fainted and after the glass broke by the snake, he became conscious and his first sight was NHAI TOLL TICKET. from there he went to the club asking for the owner of the car. Second appearance of snake in the police station where Maharaja hold it like as if he does not fear anything. And he will do anything to find the burglars of "Lakshmi". At the end, movie unveil some gruesome ending but notice how director showed a fire in the eye of Jyothi and gave a powerful massage that she will not breakdown and move on from this situation. This massage was very encouraging because we often see in the movie or even in the real life, Victim "Lakshmi" often leads to end her life but here in this movie "Lakshmi" was literally fire, she was so mentally strong that she herself took the decision to gave all her jewellery to him, Showing him with pity eyes, and then gave him his alms of his life. This was a real massage that how cruel people can do those gruesome acts and then society wanted to give her justice but here director clearly had a massage that every girl should be like Jyothi. What a fabulous movie, it has so may details that i can even go on but this was epic.

Movie is masterpiece no doubt but few questions I think I missed to connect/ 1. What happened to Maharaja ear ? When did it happen? 2. In last scene, with whom Maharaj was fighting in under construction building bcoz out of three culprit, two were already dead? How / why did Maharaja went there and how Anurag reached there to fight Maharaja ? 3. How did Maharaja came to know that the third one will be there in the building ? If not, how can he call her daughter there? 4. Here daughter did not came bare foot in the building. She must be wearing shoes or sleepers. And if so, how foot print appeared in last scene?

Whenever Jyoti sends a video message to Maharaja, she asks about Laxmi and he says nothing. But in reality, when she sends such videos, he should have replied her with a Laxmi photo or something because her videos are of the past and Laxmi was well within the house. Though, it is shown that he checks the videos again & again, keeps silent (after she comes back), his earlier replies are missing in her mobile when we see a close up of the shoes...Overall the movie is a masterpiece!!

One more thing I want to add... In the past scenario, Selva told that, "Mai meri beti ka har sapna poora karunga"... In present situation, her daughter asked for red shoes which Maharaja couldn't find... I think that's why in the last scene they have shown Laxmi's footprint got filled by Selva's blood, which symbolized that her dream sports career as well as her life got ruined and her dream of red shoes were fulfilled by his own father at the same time... Also it was a symbol of Laxmi's foot and connected to the golden chai which had red diamonds... Each and every scene was terrific and meaningful... It is a masterpiece indeed... ❤

Most amazing details is that in starting when accident happens, that mother-child sculpture slips from maharaja’s hand and it breaks apart, but they show us that only mother part is broken and child part is well but in ending , meaning only mother died and his child is alive but in the movie ending when they revisit that scene we can see child part also falling down that shows death of both mother and child.

Vijay Sethupathy ka ek movie aaya tha, Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom in 2012, which made me his die-hard fan and I started watching his films one after another. After struggling for years in minute roles, this movie along with Pizza released same year revived his career and there was turning back after that. The movie brings out how he can handle comedy. It's based on a real life incident, and one of the best Tamil comedy films of last decade. Mein yeh kehne aayi thi..... In this film, the ball hits Vijay Sethupathy on his head and he forgets everything. He only remembers that cricket match, and he keeps repeating the same sequence of events throughout the film. It was truly a fun to watch, how seriously he delivers those dialogues, repeats exactly the same and how his friends get irritated. Exact same thing dekhne ko mili Mahaaja mein, where he repeats the same sequence of events to each person in the police station. It gives the feel of a spoof of Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom. Prem Kumar onscreen, the role which gave him career breakthrough, and later the same director gave Sethupathy one of his career best roles. It's a new bit of information for me. Thank You for sharing. Prem Kumar did the cinematography of NKPK, where his marriage was made into a film. I read it that time. '96 is always my personal favourite. In fact, naduvula konjam patkatha kaanam, 96 and now Maharaja are my most favourite Vijay Sethupathy films till now. I am still wondering why, after delivering such a beautiful film, why Prem Kumar directed only two movies later.

Maharaja Could easily tell him the moment he saw selvam when they meet in the construction site floor that what had happened was a misunderstanding and he didn't tell the police about his robberies but he was shocked that the third guy was his daughter's father only and also he didn't want them to reunite coz now he is alone in this world and didn't want her to leave him n go to her real father so thats why maharaja takes her quickly and does nt respond to selvam screaming n calling them. This shows that he doesn't want the daughter to know that her real father did all this ,as that will be a traumatic experience for her all life . Brilliant just brilliant.

One more detail in the beginning is jab wo truck accident hota h to hme dikhti h sethupati ki wife, gour se dekho to she's talking to someone which we later find out is Ak's wife, also why wouldn't she come to the shop to buy a toy for her daughter herself she was well dressed ready to go out, only bcoz she was with someone in someone else's house. Another detail in the same scene, the dustbin is not directly above Sethupati's daughter's head, its towards the right and the impact of the truck would push it further right, directly on the top of AK's daughter.

One more detail you missed but very important is, when Selvam bought a yellow duck for his daughter but his daughter rejected it, he threw it away and it fell near that Laxmi dustbin, at first we thought he stole that dustbin from maharajas house, but later on we observed that, Laxmi the dustbin belongs to Selvam only, and it was his home when that truck accident happened and Laxmi saved the child.

One more thing is that in the climax we keep waiting that when would maharaja give his explanation to selvam that he only came to give that chain and not to arrest him but he does not speak a single word which really leaves a big impression on the viewer instead he makes him drink water to let his daughter talk to him. In the whole movie he stays totally mysterious by being quiet. Even when nalla shiva was surrendered to him by police he said chhod dete hai,but instead he used his energy in plannings and actions rather than making arguments🙌🏻
