I bought the wheel top EDS instead because you can do your choice of gears in the cassette versus only being able to do a 11 or 12 speed with axs or transmission. I’m sure I sram dod this on purpose, but it is a huge mistake on their part. The wheel top shifter and derailer shift as good as the sram and they’re half the price. Get your shit together America and I buy American made but until then nope

Don't like it, the controllers awful, more batteries, if there's a benefit its minimal and the cost. More than happy with XT or standard GX. Did ask the bike shop to replace it on my Levo SL.

@@EMTB17 I did the same, due to ability to choose 7-13 speed gear, I'm on 11 speed all my bikes. But unfortunately my eds eox is dead now without any reason, back to wire again.

The electronic failure due to water ingress haws been noted in other media. Basically the problem some have noted is that on GX specifically the battery is mounted horizontally not vertically like on the more expensive versions. The contacts in the derailleur are spring loaded. The water causes them to bind, and they loose contact. No power. Not saying neccisarily that is what happened to you, but there are several people out there who have had that problem. Doesn't seem to affect the more expensive stuff because the water does not pool up in the contacts.

Thanks for the comment! This sounds like the issue Alex had, but he didn't disassemble the derailleur so can't say for sure. More positively, he's tested a load of bikes with GX Transmission and hasn't experienced same issue. Cheers!

Sounds good. As with everything nowadays, the cost is quite prohibitive, but overall, apart from the crank colour (a small thing), I like the sound of it. As a side note, the Marin bikes you’re riding, look superb too!

I was 2900 kms on my GX AXS Transmission before I changed my first chain. Cassette and chain ring are still both in great condition. I'm very amazed with the durability of this system and love how it shifts under load. Perfect shifts every time. And I really like the AXS shifter pod. Didn't like the shifter on the previous AXS system, so had to change it to the AXS rocker paddle, which is much better. But the new pods are great.

Also I never have to worry about running out of battery power on it because it draws its power from the main battery on my 2024 Orbea Wild M11.

That's some good mileage you put on the chain! We have also been impressed with its durability. We hope you have many more trouble-free miles on your Transmission drivetrain.

EVERYTHIG is compatible with the AXS components, I have about 600 miles on my system using all my AXS parts (chainring, chain. Cassette) all I upgrade was the derailleur for the Transmission GX and I haven't had one issue, I'm sure if I have the entire TRANSMISSION ecosystem it might improve the underload shifting but honestly that would be a marginal gain, however as of now my set up AXS / TRANSMISSION is working absolutely great!!!!!
@mbuktvКүн бұрын
Thanks for the comment and it's brill you've managed to mix and match Transmission and Eagle drivetrain components! However, there's a difference between official manufacturer compatibility and whether components can work together. Hopefully you get many more miles of trouble free riding from your setup!

Do you need to do anything - in any way, to the RD when you remove and reinstall the rear wheel? Or is it just like a normal RD where no RD re-setup is required?
@michiganstate149Күн бұрын
No. Hanger/derailleur is torqued down and the axle bit is separate.
@ThunderStruckMTBКүн бұрын
@@michiganstate149 Thanks for this. I have never seen any specific mention of this one way or the other and it would be super frustrating to have to reset the B-gap every time I took off the rear wheel.
@COMOMTBКүн бұрын
There is also no B-limit screw. Once setup it’s amazing
@ThunderStruckMTBКүн бұрын
@@COMOMTB I know that the b gap is set by pulling the RD back with the chain on the red cog and that is what I wasn't sure about when removing the rear wheel.
@mbuktvКүн бұрын
Thanks for the comment! As others have said, once the derailleur is fitted to the bike and setup, no further setup steps are required when you remove or install the rear wheel. With the wheel out the derailleur is 'floppy' on its main B-bolt, but when you install the wheel and axle this tightens up into the correct position. Cheers!

Living in the UK water ingress faults is what puts me off the most
@mbuktvКүн бұрын
Taking some quick and simple post-ride maintenance steps should help prolong the lifespan of your derailleur. We recommend removing the battery after every wet ride or when you've washed the bike to clean and dry the battery 'dock' and its electrical connectors. Using compressed air (from your pump or a compressor) to blow out any water should reduce the chances of corrosion or damage. Hopefully that's helpful!

Shimano measures reliability in years. Sram measures theirs in kilometers.
@mbuktvКүн бұрын
Alex's experience with current Shimano kit is that it's not as reliable. He has way more broken M6100, M7100, M8100 and M9100 derailleurs in his spares box than he does SRAM Transmission ones. In fact, he has no broken SRAM Transmission derailleurs at all! In terms of chain, chainring, and cassette longevity, there isn't much between them.

You can replace the GX cage and literally turn it into XO

You sure can! You could even put an XX or XX SL cage on there if you wanted, but the GX derailleur's main body still looks very different to X0, XX and XX SL.
