Does that effect apply with other short darts too? I imagine the accufakes with the larger diameter head would contribute quite a bit to the friction and perhaps nipple or worker darts would have the usual shotgun effect

I removed the air restrictor from my hammershot and the posts from the original 5 round cylinder, and loaded it with flat head half darts and it fires two rounds at once from each chamber.

c'mon ryan, the only reason you can't ramrod single stefans is because those are accufakes/ waffles or whatever. FVJ's, Elites, Nipples and such won't have that issue.

The inline clip is pretty sweet, but probably won't work with something with a smaller tip, which then would lend itself to ram rodded single darts, or an 8 shot shotgun. Which, the more I think about it, the more all those options excite me.

Metal hammers add weight, which slows down the speed at which the spring expands, and thus the speed at which the piston can move- resulting in lower velocities. Metal trigger is fine, but you WANT to keep the hammer as light as possible.

That's bad advice for running stefans in a hammershot. You need to run stefans with small dart heads not cut down accufakes. It's the same problem with sealed or brassed breaches. The accufake/accustrike dart heads are too big for the barrel.

I did the same thing with my reflex six I took out the dart posts upgraded the spring padded the plunger head and used each barrel as a blunderbuss style (shove whatever in it) I filled it with 2 half darts each and shotgunned it. The darts didn’t have a good fit but all in all it was decent as a oh shit secondary it could still take normal darts.

Wut? Do you mean why don't Hasbro/Nerf make 8 shot cylinders the standard, instead of 5 shots? Probably something to do with material strength/durability vs thickness- as noted, the teeth on the rotation mech wear out quicker when there are more of them ( = thinner ).

Why hasnt anyone made 3d printed half dart cylinder for the Negotiator or the Lawbreaker? You can get double or triple the capacity in these blasters with the right system thanks to the gratuitous size of the cylinders, and from the amount of space needed for a single half length.

I understand that, but joules can only be applied to the impact area, not the in flight speed of the bullet. Speed is a variable of distance and time. Something that all militaries universally use. Joule is a variable of mass, gravity, directional energy, and altitude. Although it does apply, the math would take too long as there is no machine that can measure for miles or, in the case of Nerf, up to hundreds of feet. This is the reason why joules are not used.
