Joe, thanks for these videos, 11 years later. You should consider uploading them to Udemy or another platform like that to get a little income coming in from it.

@Joe Klochan This YT "course" has been very educational, it's made me think of alarms in a different way. But what I don't get about sprinklers is that, what if there's an electrical fire? It's not like the heat would be less intense. Also, like trouble bells, I've noticed many buildings have waterflow bells by the panel and/or outdoors. I guess this tells people it's a real fire, because sprinklers do not activate during prank alarms or fire drills. But does the panel need to be addressable to make such a bell ring?

Sprinkler systems are not considered life safety devices for that reason. They are for property protection. In the case of electrical fires, smoke detectors would be needed to detect them. Trouble bells are different than sprinkler bells. Typically, sprinkler bells are not tied to the fire alarm panel at all. There are usually two independent sets of contacts on a waterflow switch. The sprinkler bells run on 120 VAC, and the hot leg of that circuit goes through the waterflow switch just like a light switch. When water flows, the contacts close and 120 VAC is passed to the bell, making it ring.

Believe it or not, I use Microsoft Paint. I believe he uses a program called Smoothdraw. I tried smooth draw as well. It works better with the pen/tablet I use, but I can't copy and paste images as easily, and that's a big part of what I do. I use screen capture software called "Snagit". It's only $50.

Every time I run washing machine, the pressure in the fire sprinkler gauge increases. We thought the gauge might be faulty so we replaced but still the same. the pressure increases with every laundry. Based on your diagram, i don’t understand how is this possible?
@JoeKlochan Жыл бұрын
Yeah that doesn't really make sense to me either, but I'm not a sprinkler expert.
