The EPA Water Conference 2024 took place on 12 and 13 June, in Galway and online. Speakers shared their knowledge on how to protect & improve water quality in Ireland and showcased case studies from around Ireland.
Speaker: Carla McNeil, Asset Strategy Technical Lead (Wastewater), Uisce Eireann
Carla is the Asset Strategy Technical Lead for wastewater in the Asset Management & Sustainability Directorate of Uisce Éireann. Carla works on medium to long term strategies for managing wastewater assets, having regard for strategic needs, sustainability and whole life value. Recently, her focus has been on assessing the impact of the recast Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive and contributing to Ireland’s next River Basin Management Plan. Carla has over 25 years experience in the water and environment sectors. Prior to joining Uisce Éireann, Carla worked in the Scottish Environment Protection Agency in water regulation and catchment management. She holds a BSc (Hons) Biology from NUI Maynooth and an MSc in Environmental Management from the University of Stirling.
