@@comfyspecs9058 yeah I've known someone who defaulted to calling certain trans friends by the wrong pronouns because its 'easier' for them and its totally not on. But I think Sam was just joking around, as he always does. He has a comedic persona he's been maintaining since the heady days of Campaign 1, but in truth he has a heart of gold just like everyone at the table and I love it.

I knew a bigot who was always complaining about trans or non-binary characters in critical role but they still watched it. Massive transphobia. When Matthew Mercer basically told any trans phobic or just generally bigoted people to fuck off and not watch the program I ended up sending him a copy of that tweet.

@@scouttyra yeah! I was referring to Ashton moreso because I didn't know when the Cinderbrush oneshot was, so I was playing it safe, but Mollymauk is canonically genderfluid :D

as a trans woman, seeing matt tackle trans rep (which is super rare in media) more and more often is so nice. it can be a lot more difficult to make good trans rep than lgb rep, and it means so much to see these characters. seeing matt’s tweet about yussa, kotho, and khemdal made me so so happy, because you could tell that this was something he’d thought about, and wasn’t just making it up for tokenism. he’s not perfect, but he’s doing pretty damn good. great compilation, this was really nice to see!

There were actually tiny hints about Yussa in canon, not that I don't trust Matt implicitly when he says he's had it in his head the whole time, because I wholeheartedly do (He's one of the few artists that doesn't just shoehorn rep in for brownie points but actually just has people wandering around and if they find out naturally in the game, cool, if not, also cool.) But remember the whole "Yussa is a Dragon" Theory? Well, that happened because he didn't want to go to the Halls of Erudition with the M9 to see Oremid Hass because there are "Means within the hall to disable such glamours that would allow me free entry and wandering. So it is best I not cause a stir." So of course that flew right over the players heads because they weren't listening lol ugh, but everyone else was like WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT does that mean? Is Yussa a dragon?! But I saw a theory, that I'm pretty sure was from before Matt sent the tweet out, about how maybe Yussa is trans, and uses glamours to make himself look more masculine and that if he went into the hall and they were dispelled, it would be a problem because people might think someone was trying to impersonate Yussa and infiltrate the Hall, rather than what was actually happening. (Or maybe Yussa still Is a dragon and is just also trans lol we've already had one LGBT dragon in the show, why not more?) C2 E 84 32:19
