When you parallel or series, you need to ensure they are at the same state of charge. This can NOT be done by simply connecting in parallel and waiting. The charge vs. voltage curve of LiFePO4 is too flat for that to work. They must be fully charged individually. If the cells inside are not balanced (and many are not from the factory) the BMS may be cutting off charging differently between batteries and you may need to repeat the individual full charge several times until the settled voltage right after charging is close for each battery. After each battery is behaving properly individually then connect them in parallel and fully charge again. Then if you want to use them in series disconnect from in parallel and connect in series. For series use the bank balancer you mentioned is a good addition. If not, then you will need to periodically disassemble the bank, charge in parallel then reassemble. You might be able to full charge the series bank then use a 12v charger on the individual batteries to minimize how often you need to unwire and rewire the bank to balance it. (This same management was needed for lead acid as well.)

In order to connect them, it is true, you must charge them fully first. Unless they are already equal in voltage to the +/-0.05V to begin with, then you can skip a step. I talked about connecting them before so I left it out in this video to avoid repeating the same thing.

They become unbalanced after 3-6 months. It's really annoying to have to rebalance them that often.

Don't waste your time trying to buy this battery. You won't find it at the link that he provided or at the the store link provided on Amazon. Both will just take you to a 12 volt, 5, 7, or 12 AH battery listing. This appears to be a scam battery that the company is handing out to reviewers in exchange for a favorable review. Most of these standard size batteries have way too much empty space inside filled with foam as spacers. They do have new ones that uses non-standard sizes that doesn't have extra space inside.
