Singing is in a different part of the brain where the disability does not exist. People who stutter when they talk don't stutter when they sing! Music is a beautiful thing that over comes so many obstacles and lets you feel free.

Reading all these comments, some hurtful ones. What is wrong with you people? Here's a kid who suffers from something he can't control, yet shines when music enters his heart. There's a lot of people out there suffering right now, and all you haters with narrow-minded comments, yes, narrow-minded comments are just jealous, because he's doing what only you would be dreaming about!!! He got far, very far, because he was determined, and it just proves that determination and a strong will can get you anywhere. I say kudos to this young man for proving to himself that he is beyond his Tourette Syndrome. That he is a voice, that deserves to be heard.

There's no cure to this day :( but we can always hope for a better future...

esteeeela there might not be a cure in western medicine but things like acupuncture can really really help. I used to suffer from a uncontrolled movement, shaking and random muscle contraction disorder, it was really bad at one stage but through acupuncture and doing things like climbing a lot, yoga and other practices like meditation and even diet change, I had to quit gluten. All this has helped so much that no one would know about it now. I only get it very occasionally now, It has almost disappeared.

Dr. Henry G Bieler in his book claims that he did cure epilepsy and Dr. Peter J D'Adamo in his books improved a lot many serious illness and evan encapsulated clay proves to me to have incredible benefits but I know from the books of Serghei Nikolaevici Lazarev that yoga, reiki and homeopathy are not good and he evan knew that at the accident of Cernobâl some ortodox practicants had no radiation measured in their houses and they returned to stay in the restricted area... A romanian ortodox bishop in Ucrain at Bănceni has more than eight children cured of AIDS and many others waiting to be cured...

One of the things I noticed, is that when he sings the songs I can actually understand the words. A lot of times when I listen to songs by the artist, I don’t even know what all the words are and sounds kind of jumbled and he is so clear.

I'm dealing with tourette since I'm like 5 years old (when they discover it), I don't have it hard like he does, but I'm still proud of him. It's hard to be confident about yourself when you have this syndrome

I have a daughter and 2 grandaughters that have Tourettes. It took me 15 years to get a doctor to diagnose my daughter. She went on meds and does great now. My grandaughters asked their doctors to give them meds and they are much better. Thank you for your beautiul song and inspiration.

And girl, you also walked the walk when that that lame first coach could only talk the talk (and talk and talk and talk.....ad. nauseum) I didn't watch the full season--just this compilation. So he didn't win---and yet he won. Congratulations, Adam! I'd love to hear you sing some songs that would make you jump up and down in puddles splashing the whole auditorium...! :-)

I spend most of my time trying not to feel anything since my fiance died in a car crash 2 months ago, but when Adam sang "Chasing Cars", I started sobbing. It brought back a memory from a few years ago when my fiance had to help me find my car that had been towed so the snow plow could clear the roads... Adam's rendition of that song unexpectedly unleashed this flood of pent up emotion in me. It's hard to shut it off now that it's started. He is clearly a talented and special person, and he managed to move me and many others with his performances. I have no doubt he will find lots of success in his life. I'm glad I stumbled upon this video so I could see his start along that path.

i cant express how much i love adam. i’ve been watching him since i was like 10 (i’m 15) when i used to only have facial motor tics. now i have a bunch of vocal and motor tics that i developed around june 26th 2020 the day after my birthday. he’s helped me grow confidence and taught me not to be self conscious of my tics. thank you adam

Totally not a doctor here, so correct me if I'm wrong. But I was taught singing and talking are different parts of the brain. Could that explain why he doesn't have ticks when he sings? Thoughts? What a beautiful, passionate voice.

Singing or talking are just some of the activities that could distract a person with a tourette syndrome away from their tics, but that of course still depends on the severity of the syndrome. Although some tasks which needs a lot of concentration like reading books, writing, or even watching movies could be stressful enough for us so that's where our tics come in. I know this because I also have one, though just mild and pretty controllable when in public.

@@ashleymorgan9287 little late to the party but yeah, sometimes just a good distraction will do the trick. It doesn’t have to do w separate areas of the brain. I follow a gamer w severe Tourette’s and she can tame them w whistling. Whereas I can occasionally keep my tics at bay doing highlights (I’m a hairdresser) or even just getting really into a good tv show. If I get bored, overstimulated, tired, my tics will start up. It’s all just a surprise lol

As a 16-year-old girl recently diagnosed with Tourettes, I find singing and painting are the only things that help with my tics.
