Bought one of these as a portable welding set and, honestly, I like it. I notice the angle of the drive-roller assembly on mine is different, so it feeds from the bottom of the reel, and it doesn't seem like it's as likely to jam. Some adverts seem to show a version of this set with a 2-pin plug to control the feed but mine has a 4-pin plug. Seems like Hitbox have been doing some upgrades to this set. People often moan about spatter with flux-core welding but I suspect that's 'cos they're using a normal MIG set with flux-core wire in it and they haven't swapped the polarity around to make the gun negative. On a set like this, the wire only feeds through the negative terminal so the gun is definitely negative and... no spatter. Had mine for a couple of weeks and didn't realise you could push the front-panel knob in to adjust stuff. No idea what that's for. I wonder if, perhaps, it allows for some control of wire feed speed?

Usually 1 lb. spools have less casting and that is nice. Ideal for the spool runner. The down side is you have less wire. But you should be able to put a two pounder. Good video. Enjoyed watching, thanks!

0.8mm is 30th of an inch, 1.0mm is 40th of an inch, this looks like synergy machine and the wire feed and voltage are connected together. When the press the control knob in you can then adjust the voltage by percentage plus or minus 30 percentage.

Can i run this from a standard uk household socket without killing my circuit or burning my house down, please?
@RyanRosss4 ай бұрын
@@Lorant1984 I don’t know what the uk uses for house power. Just 110v 15 amp outlets?
@RyanRosss4 ай бұрын
If so you could run it probably under 90 amps on the machine. I also do recommend a different machine these days as this one isn’t doing good nowadays. I have to make a up to date video on the welder not to happy with it

Bought one myself and have to say it’s mediocre at best . Agree the display is confusing. Will just keep it for flux core only thing it can really do.

Hey buddy,nice video I just received one from eBay for £109 English sterling. I just wanted to double check something, when you use mig cable it goes into the negative connector but when you use tig cable it goes into the positive connector? Thanks
@RyanRosss7 ай бұрын
When using mig it will have one given terminal that your mig wire comes out you will see a hole in the lead. Also stick welding your gunna wanna do negative is ground and your stinger as positive, if you Tig weld with it you want to reverse your polarity? Making your stinger negative and your work piece or ground clamp positive

These welders like many things keep changing. So this maybe older model as of Nov. 2023. Now, June 14, 24 I was curious if a review on a newer "Hitbox" HBT-250P that claims to have a foot pedal available, if buying at the time of purchase. But I caught the (-) or (+) for Aluminum TIG Action. I don't think these guys understand the American market place as 20% are buying their first welder or owned a decent MIG for several decades. Now with more calls to weld aluminum (Don't try hoods, fenders and other parts) as the can't handle a heat gun above 180F. So small hole becomes bigger. How about a TIG only, focusing time, R&D, materials on welding aluminum. Great catch on that plug! You are right as it's backwards. I can't saddle a wiener dog expecting my 5yr old to ride it. Short but to the points. I am retired but as active in my car-truck ASE Master background going back to 78, fixing lawnmowers then motorcycles at 9. We had a new high school but no shop. I couldn't cut off a finger unless caught in a door! No budget I guess or a teacher. Either way, good job. Thanks!

Try a different size of stick, that would possibly make the difference, because if it can't use a stick then it's not a 4 in 1.. and saying it can use a spool gun is deceptive if it doesn't have one, or have a link to any.. none on eBay marked as hitbox's own brand.. that there are spool guns, just unbranded, as of price, I can see why one wouldn't be included in a welder set up when the spool gun would cost more than the shitbox welder.
