Already done😂 VERY well done Adam! When you said there's several morals, I think the main one is be careful what you wish for Thomas leaves Sodor wishing to prove HE is the favourite and not James, alongside accomplishing his dream of seeing the world. But after being trapped he slowly regrets this and realises the grass isn't always greener on the other side; which causes him to want nothing more than to go home! But he puts this aside when he sees James is in trouble, putting his friend first. Hence the secondary moral, 'The most important thing is being friends' (or you should put your friends first) Honestly the most clever movie out there (Theo stimming is also really relatable for me as I stim myself with having autism)

I would always like the mention the imagery with the Steelworks. When we first see it, it's all bright and impressive - tempting Thomas to go inside. In later shots when Thomas is working, that bright color soon transforms to dark grey, implying that the Steelworks isn't as flashy as it presented itself to be but rather more prison-like and harsh. At the end of the film, when the experimental engines work with Hurrican and Frankie, the Steelworks is now a lot lighter and more netrual. There's no need to be flashy to drag anyone in as they now have the engines to help with them with their needs. It's so cleaver and I love it!

JBS honestly deserves more credit. It’s such a genuine Thomas special, the bouncing never really bothered me, it was weird, but it didn’t turn me off from the show. I love how much this movie touches on experimental elements, not just with the characters but with certain aspects, like the bouncing, Thomas’s face turning up etc. JBS is a genuinely good Thomas film, it’s under Lost Treasure, but it’s miles above The Great Race and the BWBA movie, genuinely an entertaining and enjoyable movie

Journey Beyond Sodor does have some great cinematography despite its flawed moments like the bouncy movements. A big critique I have is not just the rushed ending, Beresford or the weird continuity, but because there should've been a manager of the Steelworks cause how can two engines be in charge of their own industrial area w/o a manager (yes, I know the Steam and Dieselworks each don't have a manager), but still.

I can finally share a theory I have. Hurricane being an experimental engine and being shown to be a nice guy could be because originally he was going to redeem himself and work with the experimental engines while Frankie has a different fate. Plus the ending felt more forced, probably because Mattel made them do it how they did. Very similar idea to what was mentioned in the video. At the time of typing this, the edited version isn't out so it might only apply for the original.

A few things I wanted to comment on: I like your suggestion for James’ subplot, I think it would show some growth for him. I didn’t think much of Theo when I saw the film (back when it came out tbf and i didnt know much about autism) and I appreciate him a lot more thanks to this video. His engine rattling as “stimming” is a creative use of the engines moving around more. I kind of wish he had a more specific basis, but being a kit-bash of two other traction designs is pretty cool. I disagree about your idea of giving Frankie makeup. I dont mind a couple engines having it, but I think in Frankie’s case, where she’s the villain and we hardly see other characters with makeup, it could come off as almost demonizing it, for lack of a better word. Not that a villain having makeup inherently says makeup is evil, but it could come off that way. Still, I think giving her something to make her face more unique is a good idea. I also think in the dirty steelworks there wouldn’t be much of a point for a ton of makeup but I wouldn’t know. I also really like your suggestion on Frankie moving to Beresford’s canal, I think it fits the tone. Long ass comment i know but last thing, I think Hottest Place in Town is a good song, i listen to it on my own sometimes. EDIT: I almost forgot to mention that opening parodying JBS How it Should Be had me HOWLING

The "everything happened at once" would reference Useful Railway and the slow motion shots of the last two movies. While Tug takes issues on the bouncing feeling inconsistent, I kinda prefer this as they are bouncing all the time. And of course, the more tasteful lighting here. I thought the stopping beyond the platform referenced Pouty James. James' line on "getting his own branch line" soon makes me say he didn't run Thomas' branch when black. This felt like an interesting opportunity when pairing him with Annie & Clarabel again, but it isn't really. From his nice closure in All in Vain, to a reset probably at JBS, to his crash Tidmouth Sheds, I also think could go with the Edward, Carly stuff. Yet even after Many Colors, we've Apology Impossible... I do like Theo's shaking, but feel the bouncing detracts it. Part of the experimentals' concept does at least intrigue me compared to the Logging Locos, I even had some of my one stemming off of Ruth from S24, but hopefully less absurd looking than the likes of Cleo. While the song Thomas says it strange that he misses James, I should note Gordon frowning, to add to growing disdain on Brenner era Gordon. James honestly sounded more mocking in the US dub of the swapping line. Heh, from the bridge jump, to this to the loop de loop. "Title character immunity on!" I also wanna mention the Steel works having a clear sky overhead at the end, vs the clouded when Thomas was held.

Second, a lot of effort is put into this one movie and it sucks seeing this movie being given a divisive reputation and even be shit on at the same time. And you also put in a lot of effort into this video so far given by all the research put in the video you placed in and even the hints of color theory you gave out at points. So far, good work Adam!

Also, the experimental engines yard could be Middlesborough, as i live locally to it and know that most of the ‘people’ there are coked-up, backwards, strange looking specimins which have things fundamentally wrong with them, just like the experimental engines.

Maybe the discoloured buildings is some sort of symbolism? Like the signal box is a colour you wouldn’t expect to reference Thomas’ first experience with Barisford, they’re both new to the respective observer (signal box to the watcher, Barisford to Thomas). The reason why the signal box changes is because Thomas is used to Barisford by that point in the film.

I took a trip down memory lane when you mentioned clickbait articles saying Lexi was gender fluid. It was the summer when JBS came out and I was looking into it because of course I was excited. I unfortunately read one of the clickbait articles and fell for it (I was 8 at the time 😂). My brother and I were playing a game in the pool where he had to guess the character based on my description and I mentioned Lexi being gender fluid and the other people in the pool were like wtf 😅

The one thing I enjoyed about this movie, is that it introduced Hurricane.
