Lovely to see you Sean, it will be great seeing how far we can make it into vlogmas. I am looking forward to the live cam and seeing the winter birds and the weather.Lovely little speech at the end, we must remember those for whom Christmas is an unhappy time filled with sadness.❤

Not sure about the therapeutic amounts for Pukka teas but in traditional herbal medicine herbal teas can be very good for your wellbeing. for example, the 'weed' that every one tries to get rid of dandelion has so many therapeutic benefits, leaf or root (both treat differently) for the body and has been well documented for many years. You can even get dandelion coffee. Obviously taste can be a factor but not always.

I make gravy with my home-made stock. I make a roux with either butter or pan drippings from the roast and flour. Cook the fat and flour over low heat, stirring well, till the flour is pale golden and smells toasty. If you like a darker gravy, cook the flour till light brown. Whisk in the stock little by little. You can also make a gravy by mixing cornflour with water into a thick slurry, then whisking it into hot stock and bringing it to the boil for a couple of minutes. This will be more like purchased gravy. Both ways, season the gravy to taste after bringing it to a boil. For a very dark gravy, I cautiously add Marmite, a tiny dollop at a time. The amounts of fat and flour, or cornflour, depend on how much gravy you want to make and how thick you like it. We love gravy so I always make a big jug full. It keeps well in the fridge for a few days. Left over gravy can always go into soup! Or be mixed with mince for cottage pie or a meat sauce for a pasta dish.

Hi Sean, hang the tea calendar up facing the wall , so you can't see what is coming next. A bit of honey in the tea makes all the difference in taste. Anyway some of those teas might be good for your health.

I have a children's colourful windmill on a stick in my garden, it gives an indication of wind speed when it whirls around. Giving movement and flashes of colour in my garden. Just a thought for your homestead.

I had a mole burrowing and read if you put a children’s windmill in the soil, it vibrates the earth and the moles don’t like it. I didn’t get any more mounds of earth so it worked for me 👍 looks lovely too.

Oh, Sean, just a tip about the empty bottled water. It's best to crush it before putting the lid back on so it can be flattened for recycling. My council won't take any black plastic, would you believe. Xx
@amandaroberts5111Сағат бұрын
Yes you can grate and freeze ginger, and if you cook some flour and butter, then add stock and a stock cube you will get a gravy, just simmer it to reduce it to thicken it.
@amandaroberts5111Сағат бұрын
You could also add some red wine for depth

With gravy depends on if your using meat juices if so about 2 tablespoons of flour into fat cook it out then use the chicken stock in place of the veg water you would have used and don't forget the gravy browning x

Hi Sean, I don't bother faffing about mixing this and that for gravy just get a box of old fashioned bisto, can't beat it, you can use it with your chicken stock. Mix a couple of spoons of bisto with water heat it with your stock and bobs your uncle 😊❤

@maureenmckenna52205 сағат бұрын
To make gravy from the chicken stock, heat it in a pot. Make a rue of butter, 1/4 stick, and about 1/4 cup flour. What you do is melt the butter in the microwave and add the flour while wisking so no lumps. It should be the consistency of thin pancake batter. Wisk it as you add it. We have something called Better Than Bouillon here in the states, but a bouillon cube will do too. Add that and continue stirring. Salt and pepper to taste. You know stock is just the liquid left after boiling down the carcass of a chicken, for chicken stock. If you try it, hope it works.

Gravy= google amounts for flour and water and make a paste. put in pan and add the chicken stock gradually over a low heat, stirring all the time. I have frozen ginger in its whole and it was soggy, but never thought about grating it, it might loose its medicinal effects slightly.

When you make a roux for gravy (or sauces) you need to melt the butter in a saucepan, add the flour, mix well, cook for a few minutes otherwise the gravy will taste of raw flour.

In a jug couple of tbl spoons of plain flour, as you like with salt, pepper, dry mustard, yeast extract, Worcester sauce, soy sauce, as you like. Whisk it up with cold water, a little over half pint, pour it in the pan and stirre it to the boil. ❤

I love ginger biscuits, as they seem to be good for my tummy. I also like a Hob Knob now and again. Have you ever tried Panattoni, as I love it - I do not like cakes, or many sweet things, as I am a savory loving person.Thank you for your first Christmas vlogmas. I've bought an advent calendar for the boys (cats) had it stashed in the cupboard that long i forgot about it yesterday 😅 so thanks for reminding me. I've also got a cloth one i put chocolate in but asusual I've not got round to doing it yet 😅. The paper xmas tree reminded me of the type of decorations mum had. She had several, a santa, his belly was the bit you opened, the stable with the animals and baby Jesus that was the roof and a wreath with a robin and a couple of bells . She had them for donkey's years she'd stick them on the living room doors with a bit of blue tack. Also put her cards up on strings but mum had these little pegs that held them on. Infact my brother uses them now. Happy days x 😊😊

Lost in Somerset, that's the verse I always use that I was taught in school many moons ago. My youngest son will be 30 on Christmas Eve. He just luckily missed Christmas Day. There was a camera crew at the hospital waiting to take a picture of the first mum to deliver on Christmas Day to go in the Gazette. There's no way my picture was going to be in the paper, lol. So all 9 lb 9 oz arrived before then. Good luck, Sean with vlogmass. Xxx
