Very thought provoking. I was a kid in 9th grade in Karachi, and the Urdu teacher slapped me for having a Punjabi accent. I was totally bewildered. When my father saw my condition he marched me to the Principal’s office and gave him a piece of his mind. Of course there were the usual evasive half apologies etc. particularly since my father was a Naval officer. Without going into the ethnic problems of this city (of which this particular group, in my opinion, played a key role) I still remember the incident vividly. The teacher is probably gone given the fact that I’m 70. But it helped instill a love for my Punjabi folklore, language and culture as well as an expansive attitude towards others.

I was mocked for my Punjabi accent. As a result I abandoned Urdu and adopted Punjabi as a full time language. Now I am working for a top global company and Urdu ( the language that used to create hatred for local Pakistanis) is not even required.

Alhamdulillah, by the grace of God, I have two daughters and a son, all with distinctions throughout their educational careers, and my eldest daughter is already a Microbiologist, while my second daughter is well on her way to becoming a corporate lawyer. I was appalled by the backwardness and lack of education displayed by a particular family in Toba Tek Singh. This is unacceptable, given that Toba Tek Singh boasts a high literacy rate and is a thriving city, most of its people live in the UK, Europe and the Gulf. It is shameful that such a family exists in a community where many people are striving to educate their children and uphold humanitarian values. The people in this city are very decent even those who belong to rural areas.

Dear Ashir, I love to hear you and I long for your new videos. I need you to explain one concept: "Why a wife and daughter is a man's responsibility but he has no right on them.
