162 MPH up a Country Lane - British Championship Hillclimb Livestream

I was at this event for my first visit to a hill climb in my 52 years!! The worst thing is that this is my local hill climb having lived in Worcester since I was 8! I was totally amazed by the speed in which these car go up the hill! The only problem is, I want to get involved and race up this hill!! I was in the pits looking at the various cars and chatting with their owners/crew. They were all so welcoming and were more than happy to engage in my conversations. Unbeknown to me, I was chatting to the chaps who looked after Wallace Menzies car and they were so down to earth and chilled to chat with this random guy (me)!!! You are all an awesome set of individuals and are a true credit to your sport (who I hope to join one day, finances pending!!!!).

Great to here you had a good time. The open, friendly, helpful paddock is one of the best things about hillclimbing. Wallace, and his team, will be back at Shelsley on August 12/13 for the next rounds of the British Championship if you want to visit again and chat to mote people.

@@HillClimbTV I come back from a family holiday on the 12th but I will definitely be there in the 13th. Are there hill climb ‘track days’ like you can do at motor circuits?

A number of venues, including Shelsley, do driving school days where you can drive your road car up the hill and get guidance from hillclimb drivers to improve. www.shelsleywalsh.com/driving-school There are also club days where members can have untimed runs up the the hill. www.shelsleywalsh.com/events-1/members-day-sept-2023

One of the oldest motor sports events in the world. Short narrow and unforgiving but very steep and fast. Its awesome.

There is shorter on the British Championship calendar! UK hills are quite different to other countries.
