I see that you're allowing the 1.5"-2" air gap, but how are you securing it? I know you can attach it to the floor, but are you also fastening it to the ceiling in some way? That's the part that always has me scratching my head. Thanks for sharing this, it looks fantastic! I'll be doind the exact same project here in about 3mo.

The bottom of the inner wall studs are secured to the concrete floor with large bolts. We reinforced the inner corner studs with 2x4’s to beef up each corner (if I remember correctly, I think there are four 2x4’s making up a a solid block of a corner, if that makes sense). Other than that, nothing is actually secured to the top or sides of the house. The dry wall allowed the studs to retain its structure very well. Thanks for watching!

Putting that 1/2" layer of drywall on the outer room would have caused you a triple leaf system Curious where you saw that method from in your research ?

At the time, we were thinking about the resell if we ever moved. If the new owner took apart the inner room to gain space back, they’d have a fresh wall to work with.

Putting safe and sound in wall is a huge waste of $s What is it doing??it doesn’t have much mass for blocking and there isn’t much sound energy behind the drywall to absorb!!
