Mate, it's £135 cheaper.. I repeat £135. Far better reels out there than the Nash, especially at the ridiculous price

So the line lay was tapered on the KastKing - ever heard of shims? The question should be 'is the Nash worth £130 extra?' simply put NO!

Something I wish you would have touched on is Kastking's misleading marketing. They claim 10+1 bearings. I own a Mela II. There are not 10+1 bearings in it. Not even 10. I counted 7, and 3 of those are stacked up on the spool arm rendering them completely useless sitting there since the spool does not rotate unless under drag. And more expensive reels from Shimano and Daiwa make due with an oil sintered brass bushing here. And lets be honest here, neither the Nash or Kastking are worth what they charge. For $100 the Daiwa's come with brass gearing, better drag systems, ball bearings where they are needed and an overall better build.

This happens all the time nothing new. A factory will either develop a product themselves and offer it to the buyers for own (white label) branding or develop it with the retailer, brand. This is called off the shelf and is a starting point to build on. Each brand then makes 7 subtle changes, colour, etc etc to make it their own and trademarks this design. However if another buyer comes along they can again change 7 things and its ok for them too. Also once the factory has fulfilled its order, it offers that design out to other purchases as well. This is where the brand places further orders with the factory to keep the design. If a brand moves from a factory it also loses the design and the factory they move from then offers this design out again.. most things actually cost around 25% of the actual RRP price for a brand. So brand pays $5 (always dollars) this equates to £4.20 plus carriage and import 20% 82p now cost is £5.02 landed (this means delivered to UK port) the brand then usually doubles up the price to Trade (retailers) £10.04, then the retailer doubles again £20.08 or usually rounds up £21.99.....this is exactly the same off the shelf with some design tweaks from Nash.

@julieleenaers3134 жыл бұрын
That kastking reel has a few flaws and for 30£, I'd buy a Shimano Alivio or Catana (or a Siena). Still, with a washer underneath the spool, the line-lay should be near perfect. That Nash reel is expensive (overpriced). For that sort of money, you can buy a reel from daiwa, shimano or okuma. Companies who at least make their own reels. The nash reel is a chinese off the shelf reel.

There’s a lot better reels at around £30, Maver reality 3000 or 4000 still in the £30 price range. Daiwa cross fire 3000 or 4000 again around £30, why you would buy an eBay knock off for the same price as a good beginner reel I don’t know
@Matto88273 жыл бұрын
Because people don’t try and say those reels are “exact” copies of the Nash GT! And to be honest I wouldn’t want to use a daiwa cross fire for 30+ pound fish in a snaggy environment anyway

Just look at the state of nashes previous reels. Bp reels are junk as where their abysmal bait runners they made a few years back. For £135 you could buy x2 dl4000sb's for the price of this that will last decades.

At least BP reels are cheap, I’ve got some bp6 on nash dwarf rods none of it cost a fortune and they work well and look nice. The scope range though isn’t any better imo but ridiculously priced.
@lostrealist20233 жыл бұрын
I've used 2 nash bp 10 reels and had the shaft wobbling playing a 12lb pasty. The other reel felt a lot heavier than the other even after a strip down and lubricate. I have no problems with cheap gear that does the job but from my own experience these are really poor quality. Maybe you got a different later batch.

the nash may be better but is it over 5 x better i doubt it ...a cheaper real is just that cheaper,,, an over charged item is a rip off ,but we kid our selves and dig deeper into our pockets to keep in with the in crowed is it.more than 5 x better well no//simple.... so which is the honest buy thats the question paying more gets you more but how much more i would say after seeing your video ,the nash was maybe 3 x better but you pay over 5x more as i say witch is more honest,,5 .5 cheaper reals or 1 nash,real and you have change ,sometimes we need a word with ourselves ,

Fools will always throw cash at expensive gear. I fished with my dad and his friends as a kid in the 70's before the tackle industry filled it with BS tackle trends that NO ONE ever needed. I caught plenty of fish on basic split cane rods including large carp and pike. The tackle is always secondary to finding and getting the fish to feed. Fancy baits and gear exist only for the likes of Kevin Nash et all to earn a fortune out of those niave or dumb enough to believe the latest hype. Carp eat anything and everything. Your magic bait just caught you and drained your wallet.
