165 Points! - VEX IQ Pasadena Tournament Finals (2/10/24)

If you came to see high scoring action, you came to the right place!
At the tournament we ran last weekend, with nearly 70 teams we saw tons of great robots: www.robotevents.com/robot-com....
The finals cumulated at one of the highest scoring official matches in the world to date (it may be the highest, I'm not sure), with a score of 165 points, 2499H and 3211B took home the well deserved victory.
Also congrats to 296A with a skills score of 260 (114 programming, 146 driver), taking the #1 world skills rank (ES) as of 2-12-2024.
If any of these teams would like this video taken down, just let me know and we'll figure something out.

Yes, the game manual states that if a block falls out of the field, a driver or referee may return it to the supply zone

@@Joseph973 I believe the drivers need to signal to the ref to collect the blocks. But I don't think drivers can preemptively wait for the blocks to fall out of the goal and catch the blocks like in this match. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ema9g4lvpbaHnc0si=Bxog1fKqk4yQ2K1H&t=183 Because they are leaving the driver's station before signaling the ref and before even blocks have left the field. This type of conduct should be against the rule of driver's must stay in the driver's station.

​@@findmeasolution1352 I do see your point, and it does make sense that the drivers would not be able to preemptively wait for the blocks to fall out of the field because they would not be in the driver station. Since we did run the whole event under those rules, I believe it was fair to all the teams at the event, but I'll keep that in mind. As far as signaling goes, as a head ref, I don't feel that what they did was unreasonable, although I guess it wasn't a very obvious signal (when a block fell out of the field and they pointed at it, I took that as a signal that they might want to retrieve it).

@@Joseph973 Did you tell all the teams they can preemptively wait near goals for blocks to fall out and catch them? If this was mentioned in the driver's meeting than I guess it was understood by all teams and it was fair. But if you just allowed it for teams that did it but wasn't mentioned in the driver's meeting, then some teams might have not known this was allowed during the tournament since it isn't explicitly allowed in the game manual. If that is the case, then it wasn't really fair for all teams even if you allowed it since it wasn't completely understood by all teams that this was allowed.
