Thank you for the review, There are so many of these on the market its hard to compare and know what you are really going to get. Liked what I saw so just ordered one from Amazon. A thermal camera has been on my list for awhile now.

Thank you for the review, it looks like a quality product and seems to have good resolution. HOWEVER, after seeing the review of the Kaiweets KM601s Smartmeter done by TheHWCave, I would check the charger very carefully before using it. He found the USB connector sheild had enough voltage on it to blow the milliamp range fuse on his multimeter and kill the KM601s (damaged a trace on the PCB). Regards, David

Gladly these devices (both the multimeter and the thermal camera) are OEM units and Kaiweets just put their branding on them, The thermal camera and multimeter is not made by the same sub-contractor.

1st! What's amazing is the thermal view of a snow fall wherein everything is the same temperature = a single brightness for everything!

One argument for a handy add on camera is the space on the workbench which is getting smaller every time. Looking at imsai dog I just wondered whether his nose is cold enough for a dog, but sure he has warm feet.

For electronics, I need to know how well it resolves warm to hot components and even shorted traces. Another guy said you need 320x240 IR resolution to resolve tightly packed surface mount parts on a board. Another showed that blocking hot objects improves results for the component of interest as many of the lower cost imagers only have auto ranging. So, I am trying to find a reasonably priced IR camera to test circuit boards with tightly packed parts, perhaps with a few warm and hot parts in an area of interest. Each part needs to be thermally resolved.

been watching your channel a lot. I'm a retired Bell Labs Engineer but Really enjoy and learn from your videos. I know very little about these cameras. Suggest a video for the newbie. What are its Uses (besides looking at circuit component temps), what important features to look for when shopping for one, etc. Thanks, and keep the videos coming!

I've been eyeing thermal cameras since the Chinese came out with their reasonably priced sensors. However, this Kaiweets is a hard pass in my book. Thanks for reviewing so I know not to put my money there. I want one that attaches to my cell phone since it's already got a good visible light camera and a high-resolution display.

I wonder why this would be a hard pass for you? Any cheap Chinese product that would plug into my phone would be a hard pass for me. Or at least I'm very hesitant on connecting them into anything network connected. Will the device be supported and for how long? Are there any nasty surprices on the firmware of any chip? Mechanical connections to a phone is also a bit concerning.
