17 Card PSA Order Reveal | Grader of Death Appears | 1980s Sports Cards

I don’t send anything to PSA at this point, unless I absolutely have to. Just sent off an SGC order this morning, for example. They don’t know what they’re doing with OPCs. a 20 card order of 80s OPC hockey, and they gave me the treatment with the highest grades being 8s. They don’t seem to understand that they have rough cuts. It’s like they have 19-year-olds who’ve opened cards from the last four years grading these things. Thanks George, definitely got the treatment on this one. it seems like the larger supply of graders has brought down their consistency. I really think their business is going to take a hug hit this year. As of this moment I am on my last order with them and am done because of two reasons. 1, they are annoying me and 2, I really don't have many cards that need to be graded.

Lack of interest => self control, not to scratch off. 😂 Most of my childhood friends lost interest in cards after a few years… not me. 😂 I bought up most of my friend’s shoeboxes full of childhood cards, back in the junk wax era… lots of mint checklists, and unscratched cards! Gum dust on some!! ❤🎉

They are so hard on the vintage. I would grade Monte a BGS 10 Black Label ;)

This seems to be a recurrimg theme... the Inconsistencies of PSA gradimg vintage! Some of those cards you would be hard pressed to find better.

That Kevin McHale looks like part of the Celtic's team set...They had 2 different sets...What year is on the card?..PSA is the wrong grader for Star Company cards..They just started doing them....Beckett has been grading those for decades...I had many graded no problem...

Thanks for the note, I'll have to check the card again but recall it saying 1986. Since I don't use Beckett at all and they started grading those cards I finally included it, oh well.

Do you think you got lower grade because you paid less? Do you think 4 Sharp Corners would have gotten the same grades?

4 Sharp Corners would never be given a 3 on anything. Or a 4.....or a 5.

#boycottPSA They take absolutely no responsibility for why a card got graded as it did, or give an explanation. This is a shame considering they set the market price, and in their fine print will tell you that they accept no responsibility for the actions of their graders. If someone's having a bad day they're taking it out on your cards.

Fun hash tag! It would be nice if there was some sense for what knocked down the grade but that is asking a lot.

@@cacsports why do you think that? Beckett, and now TAG grading, cannot only tell you, but show you why.

@@0_44_4 I am not saying that they couldn't, I think they have an obligation to tell you why a card was considered altered but they don't even do that. My point is that they are too far along to offer up more detail, they just won't ever even though folks continue to demand it. I don't grade with Beckett or Tag but it will be interesting to see if TAG can make inroads or if they will just die off. Beckett is done unless they revamp their operation. Hey, maybe PSA will buy TAG and then they can just use their technology?

PSA doesn't grade Star basketball cards. Send them to bgs. Nice cards...80s cards are HARD to gem.

Wasn't expecting the Gem but PSA gave me 'the business' on a few. I thought PSA started grading Star cards but perhaps I was incorrect
