Rather than take his usual load of tackle Graeme sets off for a few hours fishing using just one short spinning rod and reel. Venue was Lake Farm and while it took him a while to get the fish going he eventually got among them and racked up a good number of fish. His bait was just a couple of supermarket sliced loaves of bread and at close of play he was getting fish after fish....Then he ventures into the Totally Awesome garage for a session of lead making, and shows his own way of making boat weights and grip weights....Does that mean a beach or sea session is lined up ?? On the Totally Awesome Fishing Show you just never know.

I am really hooked on this guy. Simple set ups, freelining with bread - no shot, floats, weights, hair rigs, bait bands etc, just rod-line-bait with tons of know-how and bags of enthusiasm. Yesterday I freelined prawns in the margins and took out 7 perch then moved to mid-swim with a 4lb common suckered in. Thanks Graeme, Im now doing my own thing and the results are making my mates sit up and watch as opposed to the casual sneers when they think they know best. Youve helped me bust through the mystique. Thanks man, bigtime!

I can live through all the sneers as I hate following like a sheep being told "you must" etc...Fishing is all about learning, how else would we have evolved ??.plus its quite satisfying when you do get a fish on a method or bait that is outside of the "you must" box....Good catch of Perch by the way.

Well done you, litter is a pain detracting from our country, ruining the countryside and a danger to nature. Today I pick Costa coffee cups (3) out of my hedge, my neighbour has the dog mess collected in the plastic bags thrown over his hedge. I'm afraid the penalty for litter and illegal dumping does not fit the crime. Perhaps 200 hours community service picking up litter would solve it for minor offences and 1 day a week for a year for the illegal dumpers.

A very good example to all other anglers. Picking up the discarded line ect. It's only a few mindless people doing this. When I turn up at a fishery, my belly is light with butterlies, but then when the chosen peg is littered up with that kind of mess, my stomach sinks. Me and my 5 kids never go fishing without a bag for rubbish. It's only common sense if we want to continue using our favourite venues for years to come. I love it a man uses his loaf to earn a crust, then uses said crust to bag up on fish. I must say that carp landed were all in really good condition. One of my sons came with me to Watmore yesterday, ( River fishing in Farnham was called off, I had an errand to run near Hawley lake, and at's only a couple of miles to Watmore from there. Saves petrol). The wind was freezing, I blanked, but my lad did well on has first visit, loads af good roach and a couple of perch. I fed down the edges for 90 mins before dropping a line over the top. I hooked into 3 very big carp on dead maggots. All three broke me off. The 3rd one kept me in the fight for about 35 mins before the line gave. In the end I was one 12lb main line 10lb hook link, and up to size 16 hook with 4 maggkots on a band. (couldn't get a bite with the bait hooked direct). Baileys number one with some crab flavoured liquid that was laying around was the main attraction, and Dan and me were watching the reads moving about and guessed at 10 or more carp were in the area. Peg 14, in the reads about a rod length out to the left of the peg. It's 4' deep there. I had frozen the maggots with a couple of tea spoons of turmeric. That really gave an edge. My son was doing ok on fresh maggots, but did really well in the last 40 mins using my bait. Thanks for showing us how you make cheap leads. Love to give that a go, alas, we live in a flat, and I like my marriage enough to be told "no you can't" when I asked.

Great session, great filming, nice that your out and about, while I have cleaned and polished the car (I don't know who had the better day me or G.P.?) The subject of litter raises its ugly head yet again! Just reading a really good book on things you can find on the strand line and beaches, excellent photography but more importantly a section on pollution. In it they suggest, as we can't stop litter louts, if we appreciate our surroundings we do what they term a 2 minute clean up. Well I don't think that's too much to ask if you have had a good day on the beach and lets face it we are never going to stop litter louts so I am going to do this on my up and coming fishing trip. (not going to advertise the book but if you want to know the title just respond you will not be disappointed. If you were I would send you the money to cover your cost.

Hi Graeme. Thankyou for the video. Was just wondering how you manage to find lakes that allow floating bread as ground bait? 100% of the lakes that I fish only allow bread as a hook bait. Great method but if you cant throw any in as ground bait it makes it a harder to use that method :o(

I mention at the start, its called Lake Farm, they also used to allow fly fishing for Carp as well which if great fun. Graeme, note I spelt it correctly. River or sea anglers are real fishermen and they have to learn their sport to be successful. I call it real free fishing. They should not fish commercial or what I would call, fish in fish ponds. It is the same as shooting game in a game park, the game / fish, are confined to one small area. It is a :win win; situation for the shooter/ angler. Fishing commercials / ponds , is boring to say the least and soul destroying at best. Stick to real fishing.
