Sorry but this is Incorrect! Norway received its constitution 17.May 1814 dissolving the 400 year old union with Denmark! Then in November 1814 Norway (results of the Napoleon war) was forced into union with Sweden, this union was eventually dissolved 7.June 1905, a date which is also celebrated here!.

Oh! yes. That's true. Thank you so much for the information.

@@jugal1848 Also, it must be said, that this union was dissolved without a shot fired and peacefully, in spite of warmongers of both sides. Imagine how things would have been between Sweden and Norway today if there would have been a civil war (war between Norway and Sweden). Luckily the constitution from 1814 gave Norwegians an upper hand if it would have come to voting, since they had more legal voters at the time, than Sweden had.

@@emma-sofienordskog4936 Norway didn't get independence in 1814. However, we got our own constitution. The 400 year old union with Denmark was replaced by a new union with Sweden. This last union was finally dissolved on June 7th 1905, a date which in fact is commemorated for several reasons: 1895 (forced): a failing attempt to revise the union with Sweden for better equality within the union. 1905 (arranged): Final independence from Sweden 1940: (forced): Surrender to German occupation and the Royal escape to England 1945: (arranged): The return to a free Norway for King Haakon 7.

@@JohnOlimb Relations between Norway and Sweden were in fact quite strained until Norwegian Crown Prince Olav fell in love with, and married his Swedish cousin Royal Princess Märtha in 1929. That definitely eased relations between Norway and Sweden.
