In his famous notebooks, Srinivasa Ramanujan obtained a beautiful result generalizing that of Lerch for the Riemann zeta function, with applications ranging from modular forms to analysis of special data structures and algorithms. The lecture gives a historical survey on Ramanujan’s formula, then explores further recent generalizations.
