Kim Thayil is a beast and super underrated. Really Sabbath sounding licks - and of course, RIP Chris Cornell

Great player. But Chris wrote 11/17 riffs played on this video. But I love Kim’s guitar playing and that unmistakable eastern touch.

11 riffs written/co-written by Chris, 2 by Matt, 2 by Ben and 5 by Kim. It’s time that people start paying respect to Chris as a riff writing machine that he was. People unknowingly credit Kim with most of the riffs and songwriting but whole band, especially Chris deserves all the Flowers.
@matthewdavidklein5 ай бұрын
Exactly. Kim is awesome, but the overwhelming majority of Soundgarden’s iconic riffs were written by Chris. Chris was quietly a badass guitar player.

Soundgarden have a special place in my heart, this mix of heavy Black Sabbath-ness and weird riffs/solos. Cool that you included Been Away, I never heard anybody praise their final record but I still think it has some good tracks and still captures the unique Soundgarden weirdness.

Great video as always, even if I don't really know Soubdgarden. By the way, have you done a video on Muse riffs? I seem to remember seeing one a long time ago but I can't find it, so I'm probably mistaken. (You can take that as a request lol)
@bloxsy_5 ай бұрын
I never did one for Muse, it would be quite interesting to do as I don't really know many Muse songs. Could broaden my horizons a bit. Any particular favourites?
@Ανδρέας-ΓεώργιοςΣκίννερ5 ай бұрын
@@bloxsy_ I think the two most recognisable Muse riffs would be "Plug in Baby" and the bass riff off "Hysteria". Their strongest riffs IMO are off the albums The 2nd Law and Drones, but hidden gems can be found from "Sober" to "Kill or Be Killed". I can get back to you with something more substantial after I give them a listen to jog my memory; I'm currently mired in Feeder and Nothing but Thieves (as well as some guilty pleasures) lol Edit: contrast is beautiful, and "Panic Station" contrasts well with, I don't know, "Unintended". Or anything, really. "Panic Station" is so 2012, "funk-inspired", sassy stuff. I love it.
