Just found your channel and I dabble with test gear on my channel also. Well I have to say I'm thrilled with your contents and your fantastic and engaging conversational style. That Nixie tube counter is a thing of beauty. Thanks for sharing. Regards Chris

Very interesting videos on the 465B, I've just bought one from Ebay, a bit worst for wear but seems to work still, (I also have a 2235A) so your videos will be very useful to me, I'm 51 now and these were the scopes I saw many technicians use in the 70's and 80's when I was a young man, so being able to get some Tek scopes so cheap now is a dream come true! I'm kinda of new to scopes but since I work in electronics now I can "justify" getting a few ( ..so I tell my wife :) Greetings from the UK!

Hi, thanks for your comment! I was the same way, as a kid I was fascinated by all the dials and buttons, wondering what they did (while not being allowed to touch!!). Its great to be able to buy equipment like this for a couple hundred bucks online when it was thousands back in the 70's. PS love the UK, family there and been several times!

For RF work with levels below 100 mV I prefer my TEK 453 CH1 output because it amplifies the input signal and can then trigger my counter on signals too low to do it normally, my 465 does not do this and I have to lower the input attenuator to below 20mV/dev before it triggers my very sensitive TTI counter.

I must confess I was a little disappointed not to see an attempt to put a very small signal through channel 1, and then chain through channel 2 as an additional gain stage. I'm curious how far you might be able to push the composite gain due to noise and so on, perhaps with bandwidth limiting to help things a bit. Still, a nice presentation! (Though where I'm from, ties are not required. :)

I have that same HP Function Generator and a 465 scope. Wish I had a counter like that one. Also, when I record my generator display, it flickers on the recording. I know it has something to do with the frame rate, what is it you do to not have that happen?
