That Theatre is part a huge complex built for the Goodyear Tire Company’s Employees. It was opened in 1920 and is a great representation of the old school manufacturing mindset of Corporate America. The building was a one stop shop that served all of the needs of the tire workers. One of the cool things about those days is that they had employee bands, orchestras and choirs that all performed in that theatre.

At the start of this one, I saw the U-Haul and for just about a half second thought "there's the equip... oh... right, different world here...". (Although, if you have an opener...) One problem with taking a building tour. Right at the start, you can tell this is one of those places where there is a theater in a building full of other stuff; office spaces, maybe apartments upstairs. So just loads of hallways with nothing but doors where, if you did open it and walk in, somebody might get crabby. In Toledo, there is the Valentine Theater (actually a good venue for this tour, but they don't seem to book music). It's actually a much different place, now, from the original, long story, full renovation and rework long ago, but the old place was similar, with a theater. (Edit to clarify; both the original version and the reworked current version both had/has a theater, but much different.) In the old version, decades ago (I am old), the upper floors held the offices, TV, and radio studios of WGTE, the local public broadcasting operation. Up top, third or fourth floor, was the TV studio, a huge two story high space. Similar building here, it seems. The gym here was a surprise, but how much you want to bet that has hosted some rock shows (because we can't have those ruffians in the NICE theater)? I can imagine something like coming across photos of Led Zeppelin there in 1970 or something like that.

Speaking of Dallas Mr Sklar . Are you aware of the little known tune from Steely Dan called 'Dallas' ? Featuring the late ,great drummer Jim Hodder on lead vocals and the brilliant Mr Geoff 'Skunk ' Baxter on pedal steel guitar . @splashesin82 ай бұрын
@@artemisXsidecross I made it out and restocked last night just around 9pm. Circled the Walgreens, the outgoing mailboxes in the big parking lot, and the United grocery. Then refilled a water jug outside with better tasting reverse osmosis. Got back before the ice cream melted and got it in the freezer. Got the moo bars from Bluebell, which used to be Borden. We have an old Borden building here in town. One of the bus drivers used to work there when it, still had ice cream inside and the offices too. I think his picture is still on the moo bars package. He's the one we all called "medium Jeff" and lots of other passengers called him Howdy Doody. 🤠 I could not find the Great Divide, so I got Milk Chocolate in the probably half gallon bucket and fell for getting another one of those they are calling Oatmeal Creme Cookie, like those Little Debbie soft cookie sandwiches. So it's funny! We were on the same page of restocking the ice cream. There were a few banana popsicles left in my freezer, and something like generic otter pops, This'll probably all last till December at least. The forecast for the next ten days is all highs over a hundred again. ...and our pool has been out of commission since about two weeks ago. Finally got my new swimsuit though. It apparently was on tour for a month and half. I'm ready to start breaking that thing in. Last night's walk helped tremendously. Had been in too long. Was hoping to find some flowers that tolerate full sun. Still on the search. United was out of most of their outdoor plants. I like those dianthus, because they hold up in desert conditions and are so interactive in a tactile way. They have a night time behavior and a daytime behavior. They need water every three days, with that wicking set up.

In the 90's my daughters southern Ohio high school band would do the 20 hour bus ride to Disney World. Usually snowing when we left Ohio. With my spinal pain I'd lay in the isle most of the time. Arrive at Disney and suit up and march. One adult overloaded and plugged the bus toilet passing through West Virginia and you couldn't breath. Going through Georgia the air conditioning broke. I'd fly down and meet them there after that.
