regarding the problem with the uv resin lid: I don't know how many times I've reached to take the lid off only to get resin all over my hand/fingers because the lid was ALREADY off. So, I wound a bit of orange masking tape around the lid. Not a problem any more! LOL I actually do this with my Part A jugs and if I have decanted to another bottle. Just put a piece of masking tape all the way around the bottle, or the handle if it's a jug. Easy peasy! :D

I make small Dachshund dioramas, I make the scene using uv resin before adding reg resin..the uv resin is like the glue to hold the scene together, you could resin the flower to the center before adding the resin of you wanted to, and add a thin top coat to the top of it doesn’t get under the flower … Or add a thin clear coat of resin and add your flower and let cure then do you reg pour after it cures..

I was thinking the blue and black were all mixed together, so felt a bit surprised to see blue areas and black areas, and green areas all kind of separate in appearance. It's a nice design, but a little different than other larimar coasters you have done of course. I like the flower in the middle, though it looks a little more pale in the coaster than I thought it was before putting it into the coaster.

You could also attach a small metal ball, like for dragging down the bobber of fishing tackle. I forget what the little lead balls are called. But, I bet even a really small one of those would weigh it down plenty.

After watching this for like, the third time, I had a thought or two. I think the effect didn't turn out quite as wanted because of the flower and having to keep poking it down. Just my thought on that, by no means an expert here. And following that same train of thought, no matter what inks, dyes, etc, that you use; the larimar effect should work as long as your resin is the right viscosity. It just has to be able to flow. Again, just my thoughts here. That said, you do beautiful work, whether it goes in the bin or not. I would honestly give it a shot trying to sell your "fails" for a short period before tossing them. "One man's trash is another man's treasure."❤

that movement in the center was from lifting the mold to put the paper under it....... when you brought out the uv light it made me think of trying this but with uv resin. it will just keep moving (i hope) till it gets hit with uv light when its where one would want it. ive got a few 100w uv flood lights

Like the flower but needs to be darker to distinguish better from the blue. Nice to know alcohol ink works and it does give it a softer appearance. ❤ the end result though. Are the flowers resin or clay? I missed that part. Grandkids here so it’s rather noisy.

Hey Julie! Just fyi...the amount you wrote down for the blue and green drops wasn't correct. Don't know if you caught it after editing the video but for the sake of you logging them down, thought I'd let you know just in case. You actually did 9 drops of blue and 4 drops of green. You said 10 drop blue and 5 drops green. This turned out pretty. maybe no the total effect but both sides are great. The flower constantly floating probably didn't help the design. Great fun!! Big ((Hugs)) from Texas!!🤗

Could you "glue" the flower in 1st before the white somehow?
@ChibiChula
@ChibiChula Жыл бұрын
Hmm... it's pretty but not quite the effect you were going for. 🤔 From what I saw I think the main issue was having to push the flower down repeatedly. Maybe try gluing something heavy onto the back like a metal ball bearing. They're not too expensive and can be painted if you want to camouflage it. A magnet might work too, especially if you can get one of those really powerful magnets under the mold so it can attract the one on top of the flower. That might be interesting to figure out too. 😅 Of course, it could be the alcohol inks. From what I understand, with this technique the thinner/lighter your colors are (alcohol ink vs mica pigment, for example) the thicker your resin needs to be. It's a needed balance. Alcohol ink calls for medium viscosity resin and pigment powders would be best in low viscosity resin. Anyway, I look forward to future experiments. Learning is fun! 😁👍
