Just an update on my Shop Heater Project. I got it installed and am doing the initial burn for heat. Testing the blower and checking temperatures around the heater. I have also selected a name for it from the many names suggested by the project viewers. Thanks to the many suggestions from viewers on this build I believe I have a top notch heater for my shop.

I used to watch your channel a while ago. I think we even chatted a couple of times about turning. Some life changes took me away from turning and I'm trying to get back into it now so I looked you back up. The stove looks good. I think you did a really good job on it. The only improvement I would make, would be to put a pot of chilli on top on a cool morning and see how it cooks like and how good it would make the shop smell. It would be fitting to have it in a cast iron pot. I just think that would top it off just right. If you are a coffee drinker and old fashioned coffee pot on top would look good on it too. Thumbs up.

Thank you sir and good luck on your return to turning. I used to keep my percolator on my old woodstove and it really made a great pot of coffee. I have Cast Iron Dutch Oven and may just see how that will work. Thank you sir and I'm glad you enjoyed this project.

Hey Stephen, been a minute. You seem well. Yeah, my shop is 24/32 and this year I decided on doing a heat pump. I found a great deal on a wall unit. We heat our house w wood. Ain’t nuttin like wood heat here in KY.
@StephenOgle
@StephenOgle 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Todd. I run a heat pump in the house with a really nice woodstove as backup for those really cold nights. Works great. I agree that wood is a different kind of heat. It is just better. Thank you and take care.

I’m using a gas furnace blower motor assembly on low. It’s amazing how hot it gets in there with the fan on low. I also have my blower fan on a thermostat. Thanks for the idea!

Really great fire Stephen. That sucker'll keep you toasty as long as and as much as you want! I used to live in a two story house in the North East with an over-sized wood fire and it used to get to 85 degrees upstairs no matter the outside temp!! You really did a marvelous job!

@StephenOgle
@StephenOgle 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you JP. Yeah, I really like the name and the shop is warmer that it has ever been. With a small fire and around 30 degrees outside it reached up to around 55. Plenty cozy for a shop. More than that and it begins to get uncomfortable the other way. LOL! Thank you for the name and take care.

Hey Steve. Nice addition to the shop. Nothing like woodstove heat AND the perfect way to get rid of all those cut offs and scraps. The only change I would make is to reverse the connections on your stove pipe so if there is any dripping of creosote it with stay on the inside of the pipe.
@StephenOgle
@StephenOgle 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you JG. My old stove had the male connector and the top vent had the female connector. That is why I installed them this way. Your way makes better sense, but it would be a hassle to get it to work. Thank you very much for your suggestion and Thanks for Watching. Take care.

You’ll be turning in the middle of winter i in y your swim suit! I often see videos at this time of year where you can see the turner’s breath. How do you keep your finishing products from freezing?
@StephenOgle

LOL! Believe me, No one wants to see me in a swimsuit, LOL! Most of my finishing products are Oil or lacquer based and I honestly do not know. I have had my glue bottle to freeze before. Maybe it does not stay below freezing long enough to actually freeze in my shop. Good question.

not to be negative, but if you would put some effort in insulating that shed(did notice the gaps between the trusses and the walls or if it was the roof steel) you wouldnt be needing that nice big ass stove you built :D

Your exhaust pipe should be fitted the other way round so your crimped ends are inside each other facing downwards so that the creosote residue from wood smoke drips back into the burner and is burnt away, the way you have your pipes the liquid creosote residue will run down the outside of the pipes is a potential fire-Hazard!
