What a beautiful little adventure of an afternoon, combining a fair with a canal. And for a bonus we learn that Mr. CTC hails from Droitwich, perhaps explaining how he became such an adroit reporter of events such as this! And it was a rather adroit merger of video and verbiage into an enjoyable vlog. Thanks for posting, sir

What a lovely festival. Just my size. Not a fan of big ,noisy, crowded events. I rather like to hear the person I'm talking to . Very similar to our country fairs, with homemade goods and small artisans, food and helpful charities. Beautiful venue, if a bit chilly, still green and colorful. Well done. Thank you David.

Short but HIGHLY SIGNIFICANT CONTENT. I can't call this a 'bonus'; it includes a narrow boat on the National Register. It seems to me that this is at the heart of the Vlogs. The whole thing was a treat to see. I grew up along the Erie Canal, running 'from Albany to Buffalo' in the words of a canal boat song. The canal connected the navigable Hudson River to Lake Erie in the west at Buffalo. Long neglected in terms of 'heritage', Palmyra New York has in recent decades revitalized canalside buildings and hosted 'Canal Days.' One of my mother's grandfathers had a small factory along the canal in Palmyra.

Never in a million years, without your personal involvement, would I ever be enticed to pay the St.Richard's Festival/ Droitwich a visit but now... it's become a place of interest that I simply have to check out and take part of. Short and sweet. What was it...the Jam Butty? Simply a Must.

Memories memories, we opened a new pub in Droitwich in December 1983, "The Pillar of salt" Named after John Corbett who made his fortune from the local salt wells. He built the Chateau Impney for his French wife, and it now is an imposing hotel on the A38 approach to Droitwich. After a short while we moved to "The Talbot" at Chaddesley Corbett, all tied up i reckon. Whilst we were at Droitwich the canal was in water but derelict. I think we may have to pay a visit by boat soon. Thanks for your review.

I developed quite a soft spot for Droitwich. Way back in about 1984 or so, we went on a family holiday on the Worcester-Birmingham canal and, having gone down the Tardebigge Flight, went past the very much overgrown entrance to the then derelict Droitwich Canal (I really can't be bothered to make the distinction between the Barge Canal and the Junction Canal). It really intrigued me back then, when I was about 12 or so. Fast forward to the year 2000 and I drove to Tardebigge and left my '86 Granada (given to me by my dad!) at the church car park and then cycled alongside the flight and onto the Droitwich Canal. The top locks were in the process of being restored, with the locks and pounds empty of water; quite daunting if you looked into the empty lock chamber as it's was a big drop onto concrete !! I cycled on to Droitwich but the route part way was lost and I was approached by a farmer, who was asking me why I was on his land. When I said i was looking for the canal route, he was quite chatty and told me that we were pretty much on it (the route now bypassed this spot). I remember the canal at Vines Park really looking very sorry for itself, with very deteriorated lock gates and overgrown pounds. I remember cycling on towards the River Severn but stopped where the main road had been built over it (A449). It was very eery there as the embankments had tall tress growing, which shadowed the derelict canal. Some interesting vids of it in a derelict state: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpbQc2aFrsuEjck kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2bYp2Wiea5kfNE A second stint working in Coventry in 2010 gave me the opportunity to cycle along the entire length as hit had been restored by about then. It was really quite fascinating ! Unfortunately, my mountain bike rear derailleur died at the Severn junction, so I had a very long walk back to Tardebigge, although i could have left the bike at Droitwich and got a taxi, to collect the bike later but I didn't see that as a challenge !
