I like the textured side. You get more off a "dancing light" affect.

These fibers and the film, usually melted together, are actually very commonly used by cosplayers and doll artists for making fairy wings. You can make such pretty color gradients mixing the different colors of fibers and films together. It just looks so magical! 😍

Oh, that's Angelina fiber! I would mix that in my wool & silk rovings, batts, or combed top (to spin my own yarn). It adds such a pretty sparkle to any spinning fiber, or yarn, or cloth! I've knitted myself many a sparkly pair of merino/silk socks...yummy! Huzzah for Aussie Merino! 💕😊❤ This would make such a gorgeous addition to resin! Too bad I'm out...ratz! It might be messy, but you could cut these into short fibers... 😊 Oh, WOW, Julie! These turned out GREAT! 💕❤💕

Yeah, it's fascinating how the process just keeps morphing as it cures. We're fixin to move in the fall, but after we're settled, I want to try again. Watching this lady's videos has been most valuable to me. I make jewelry and have been curious to see how resin works. Even what this lady thinks as failures has helped me to be avoid the same. Very valuable videos indeed.

The house I spent most of my time growing up in had a cathedral ceiling in the great room (sunken living room and formal dining area). It was double-vaulted, and something like 15’ at the peak. We bought the biggest tree on the lot one year, and my dad still had to cut off about 6-8” for it to fit right at the peak.

That is a great mold Julie. I’m not a big fan of the fibers, my eyes feel itchy just thinking about them 😂 but that’s probably because I sometimes sew with fake fur and the fur fibers get everywhere! I look forward to seeing your druzy ornament mold!
@ChrisAndCats Жыл бұрын
I've got some lurking somewhere, they're not itchy, more like thin lametta, metallic shreds or tinsel strands for a Christmas tree.

These are so pretty and fun! I'm so glad you tried this! I've only seen people fuse the fibers and was wondering what it would look like to just use the fibers in the resin. This way takes a lot less of the fibers and still gives a wonderful effect. ❤️

~~~^..^ Hi Julie, may I suggest shining the light from the side? You seemed to catch on at the end... I wonder if the problem with the navy one in particular would be solved. I agree, more is better ~~~^..^
Oddly I used it in crimbo deccies around 3 years ago but in smallish sphere moulds and they turned fantastic. It never crossed my mind to try flat moulds but I’m deffo going to try it now. I love the round navy one the best as it looks like wispy smoke without the light. I think they will look amazing on the tree Julie ❤❤
The fibers work loke the film, your supposed to iron them into sheets or pieces between parchment paper and colors pop more
@silentferret1049 Жыл бұрын
There is a tool for deburring metal pipe and such, it looks like a handle with a bent pin on it and it swivels around. I wonder if one of them might work well for getting off the overflow or sharp edges of resin. I use it on sheet metal and it glides so easily (if you go the right way) taking the burrs off from cutting discs. I got one and I might try it on some acrylic and polycarbonate and see how it fairs on them. Might be easier and safer to use than a exacto blade. Used them enough trying to shave off cuts on the plastics to know how sketchy they can be. That stuff looked like colored fine steel wool with the dark blue but it also looks like fiberglass like in insulation. Either way nice looking stuff for resin. Some of that stuff layed down on the bottom and some pearl resin poured over top might work well.
I melt the fibers into the film with a low heat iron. Make sure to cover it with baking paper. Dont let the iron touch the film.
@missrla1972 Жыл бұрын
I love your baubles. I wonder what it would be like if you chopped the fibres into short pieces and sprinkled them in the moulds that way? Or if you did small pieces of the fantasy film like you did in your tray mould? I reckon that'd look amazing! (Rachel Armstrong, Scunthorpe, UK)
