I was in the air flying from Manchester to Sydney for the last Test match when this happened. England were struggling at the MCG when I took off so was fully expecting we'd have got beat again when I landed so I was absolutely made up when I arrived at Sydney airport and found out we'd won when I saw a man holding a newspaper with a headline of 'NOT AGAIN' with a pic of a clench-fisted Dean Headley as the Aussies had yet again failed to chase down a small target in the 4th innings. One of the great Test matches.

I live in Melbourne and drew the short straw to have to work between the Xmas and New Year period. Boxing Day was rained out and so I was desperate to see some cricket. Dec 29th and I came down as soon as work finished to see what I thought would be an easy win. Steve Waugh was atrociously selfish and to this day my wife (who was with me) has no time for him. Poor Nicholson played his only Test in this match. Waugh insisted on the extra half hour and so I thought surely Gough and Headley would tire. The last session lasted almost 4 hours, the longest in Ashes history. After we lost I was so angry I punched a ticket booth on the way out ! Never forget this day.
